I know a lot of people don't understand reality competition shows like Big Brother, Survivor, Traitor's, HOV, etc. My mom, myself, and a few friends have watched for years and discussed it with each other. I have been in some online groups and chats but in the last couple years I have discovered whole communities full of new friends and people who understand what it's like to be so invested in "silly" tv shows.

The week before last I got to go to RHAPcon for 3 days. RHAP is Rob Has A Podcast. Rob Cestrinino was on Survivor Amazon and Survivor All Stars, and Traitor's season 4. He started a podcast over 15 years ago and it has grown into a network of podcasters that cover most of the reality competition shows and keep us up to date and their analysis of each episode. They hosted a convention in Milwaukee so it was close enough to go up and I had a group of friends from the community to go with. We had such a great time. We got to mingle with so many amazing people who understand our passion for these shows. I made new friends, had been experiences, and we all commiserated together when the 1000 episode ended in turning off the live feeds for day and a twist that would make one person leave the game without being voted out.

It's hard to describe the feeling of having a community who gets what you are talking about and feeling. A lot of people don't understand why we are so into these shows but they get it. I have a great local group who I get together with every week to watch the live show with, we added some new Chicago friends to the group, we have plans made with new friends later this month, and we will all get to see each other at future events!

I am so grateful for this group of people and my other community that centers around the amazing Britney Haynes!

I did a thing. I stepped way outside my comfort zone and flew to Milwaukee for a “silly” reality TV show convention put on by my favorite podcasting network, Rob Has a Podcast.

If you’re (for some reason) following me on Twitter, you know I pretty much only tweet about Big Brother and Survivor — two shows I’ve been watching since they premiered in 2000. And here we are, celebrating Big Brother’s 1,000th episode. What better way to celebrate than in a room filled with 500 other crazies who are just as obsessed with the show as I am?

For the first time, I felt like I truly belonged.

I started listening to RHAP five years ago because I loved reality TV. But I became a fan when I noticed the incredible diversity of its correspondents. I fell in love with everyone and knew I was here to stay.

Getting the chance to tell them how much I appreciate them — and to thank Rob for giving them the platform to do what they do — has my heart filled with joy.

This sort of thing may be weird to the average person. But for me, it was so much more and means absolutely everything to me. #rhap #bigbrother

Tbh it is hard to put into words what an incredible experience these past few days have been at @rhapgrams RHAP-Con 2026.

These incredible people have built the most wonderful community, bringing together hundreds of people from around the world to share in these moments together - laughing, building connections, playing games, sharing stories, yelling at the tv… I will never forget the friendships made and conversations shared. Feeling the love and can’t wait for another RHAP event. 💖🌞✨
