THAW for K: Sports shot in Norway with the most amazing team We followed the changing seasons and the melting ice, brought to life through a performance curated by Will, using Shirley Pegan’s sound recordings of actual tectonic glacier movements. 1/ Performance 1 got lucky here :) 1 / Melting Ice and magic by Jeanne 2/ Difficult to grasp the size of these crevasses. Trained formally in traditional Chinese dance, she imbues her body as an archival site as well as a site of re-imagination, unlearning codes, and glitching. Her practice questions selfhood through mediums such as role-playing and world building; producing and participating in alternate, possible realities. #fyxmoving Gelboy is a manifestation of the Internet search engine that rumbles on. An awk-genre derived from the infinite tabs of a mindless web browser, he continues on his endless journey to create. 🌾✨ may tomorrows summer solstice be a portal to new beginnings 🌾✨ this song was one on the record that we seemed to pull like a thread from thin air, Will was playing around generating synth patterns, working magic by morphing tones, textures and rhythms and i remember my ear latching onto the plucking arpeggiated hook (before it disappeared into the ether.) it felt both otherworldly and playful to me, a sort of suspended melody. the percussion (also synth generated) is white noise, finely chopped up to make the pattern, there’s a lot of white noise woven in to this record as it gives me the same bodily sensation as the sound of wind 🌬️ (aeolian sound is a central thread across all the songs.) we then added @marysia_osu intricate harp plucks under the chorus synth and @slow.moon__ spacious guitar chords in the bridge. the lyrics, i wrote about in depth in a previous post, it’s essentially a song about death, going from being here to everywhere… slowly drifting through surrounded by love 🦋

I spoke to @motordancejournal for their inaugural issue, about my relationship with movement and the joy of being a beginner. Since the new year, I’ve been studying classical and contemporary Chinese dance. Embodying these forms has been an affirming experience, a way to connect with my ancestral Chinese heritage and actively participate in this culture with my community.
