Northern Nevada has shown its true heart during the devastation of recent fires.

Our dear friends, Brendon and Chanlee, are among the families who lost their home. They had purchased their dream home in the Red Rock area less than six months ago—beginning an exciting new chapter as young newlyweds. In an unimaginable turn of events, their home burned down during the days they were supposed to be celebrating their birthdays. They lost nearly everything.

While we grieve for them and every family affected, we are also profoundly grateful for the extraordinary people who stepped forward when it mattered most. To the firefighters, law-enforcement officers, dispatchers, emergency personnel, volunteers, neighbors, and every person working tirelessly behind the scenes: thank you.

These are real heroes. They entered dangerous situations to help evacuate children who were home alone, elderly residents, people with disabilities or medical needs, individuals unable to safely drive, and helpless animals—while putting their own lives at risk to protect our community, homes, and loved ones.

The destruction is heartbreaking, but the response has been inspiring. Seeing Northern Nevada come together with compassion, courage, generosity, and a willingness to help one another has been a powerful reminder of what makes this community so special.

Brendon and Chanlee now face the long road of rebuilding their lives and home. I’m sharing their GoFundMe for anyone who feels able to support them. No contribution is too small, and every bit of kindness is deeply appreciated.

Thank you, Northern Nevada. Thank you to every hero. ❤️

50 acres, barn and custom home tragically was lost yesterday in the BugFire. My son and our daughter in law are safe and staying with us. Animals are also safe. Brendon’s birthday is today and Chanlee’s is tomorrow AND they get married on Sept 12. Let’s rally around this awesome couple. Family and community are up for the challenge. Please wish them both a happy birthday.
