In the great famine of taste and creative discernment, where aesthetic languages converge into a commodity and references flatten, each has followed an idea far enough that it risks becoming alienating, trusting a peculiar reference, an unlikely material, an obsessive technique or an instinct irreducible to words. Iraqi designer Abbas Alhamdani (@channelabbas) has made a custom denim jacket for 6’9” NBA player Jeremy Sochan and a matching denim harness for a client’s pet lizard, and took both jobs equally seriously. The 23-year-old founder of @studiosabbas learned how to sew from his mother and now studies the jeans of the 1930s and ‘40s down to the last pocket, checking every pattern two or three times before the denim goes anywhere near it. “The slow and steady will always win the race,” he tells @yasmin.alra Read the full profile at the link in our bio.
