Costarella: Fashioning a Legacy is a new travelling exhibition celebrating the life, work and enduring legacy of Aurelio Costarella, one of Western Australia’s most internationally recognised fashion designers.

From his beginnings in Perth to runways and red carpets around the world, Aurelio’s work was defined by exquisite craftsmanship, intricate detail and a truly distinctive creative vision.

The exhibition brings together iconic garments, archival material, objects and audiovisual content, offering a closer look at both the designer and the man behind the work including his later creative practice and advocacy for mental health.

The exhibition is now showing at the Museum of Geraldton before travelling to Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Albany over the coming years.

We’re proud to have played a small part in documenting Aurelio’s story through Becoming Aurelio, directed by Chantel Concei, produced by Kate Downie and shot by Elliott Nieves and it’s wonderful to see his legacy continuing to be celebrated and shared across regional WA.

Shooting at sunrise isn't always the easiest ask on a call sheet, but the crew who know how to make it work will tell you it's worth the early start every time.

Nicole Trunfio is a trooper. Posing in freezing water in a slip of a dress while the shoot crew watches on, rugged up and still shivering. Minutes later she’s tearing across a field on a dirtbike in designer pieces, then quickly stripping off to change behind a shed. The supermodel calls Texas home now, but it’s clear that she never lost her carefree West Aussie roots. STM was surprised and delighted when @nictrunfio agreed to dedicate her final day in WA to shooting on the soil she grew up on, children in tow. She also reunited with a creative team she worked with as an aspiring model in her teens, including make-up artist Hendra Widjaja, stylist and Claremont Quarter fashion director Teagan Sewell and photographer Chantel Concei. In this weekend’s cover story, Megan French @thefrenchfawn talks to Trunfio about what it meant to bring her kids to the place she grew up, along with her favourite memories from the trip.
