A few shots of the Evergreen Grinder 50 mile course pre-ride the other day! We had a great day out there. The course is pretty hard with lots of climbing but the views and descents almost make you forget.

Also, for those who have been asking for it, the registration waitlist is now posted. Link in bio for that, feel free to sign up but there’s no guarantee that you’ll get a spot. Thanks again for all of your support!

Over the river and through the woods. ⁣

The first cool day of the season - the thermometer may have read high 40s but with a brisk wind from the north it felt like 40, tops, and cooler still as night fell. ⁣
⁣
Brian’s bike as pictured is filthy. That’s hardly a sign of disrespect for a bike that can and does go anywhere anytime in any weather. Years ago in his shop we were discussing bike cleanliness and he noted that after a certain number of years it was easier for him just to build a new one. ⁣

The town had a parade to celebrate its 375th birthday. By its 25th birthday another in a long line of genocides had been largely wrapped up, a future assured. ⁣

On July 13th we had a class reunion of sorts. We had Julian’s alumni come together for our first official reunion in 32 years and where as not everyone could join us, an astounding 150 did and folks traveled from as far as Washington state to Virginia to Quebec and what an honor it was to host them and see all these eras in one place. As many said that night; “feel like I’m in a Time Machine. So many of us have worked here in our formative years and it is amazing to have shared that time with so many of these kids and to see what they have become and meet their families. Probably the coolest thing I’ve been involved with forever. Thanks to all those who joined us. We will be posting more photos over the next few days from this glorious event.

Summer check-in! If this fresh @chapmancycles rando bike with the super crisp and clean box striping doesn’t get your attention, I don’t know what will! 😜

Now that I’ve got your attention - we had mixed feedback on grouping the randonneuring builders together at the Expo. What say you? Do you like having all the rando goodness in one area or prefer them sprinkled throughout the show floor?

Steve Grimes’ old Raleigh rescued from oblivion after his passing in 2003 and resurrected steadily ever since. Steve normally rode a 22” frame; how and why he had a tired 25 1/2”er remains a mystery. ⁣

Rainy Sunday evening ride stop at old Mr. Kenney’s south pasture, now more meadow and than pasture. ⁣

As Riggi used to say - “you can only get so wet”. ⁣

Couldn’t possibly have had more fun goofing off on bikes in the woods with friends and strangers at the Nutmeg Spring Fling. I was stoked to finally get to meet @yellowbirdthreadworks in person, and came home with a right-sized bag of souvenirs including fully soaked shoes, a little trail rash, potential signs of poison ivy, a couple few mosquito bites, and some sunburn. But, no ticks! What more can one even ask for?
