If you’re looking for the deep dive on all the mechanical changes we made you’re in the wrong spot. Outside of 1-2 conversations on how the throw looks and what the plan is, we didn’t mention mechanics or trying to “fix” his throw. Although going full word salad is the popular thing to do, saying specific mechanical changes led to this specific outcome completely discredits how complex skill acquisition is. Stacking days and having an actual plan will always be king.

Made 94 a goal for @char.giese this Summer and first live abs Charlie sat 92-94 with a low 80s sweeper. Proud of the work Charlie has put in, excited to see it pay off this Spring 🤝

Want to actually build an elite throw? Find an open field and chuck it. Come back to me in 6 months and show me what your throw looks like now.

In the world of access to tech, an understanding of skill acquisition trumps all. Have a trackman, edgertronic, and force plates but getting cued up every other throw on subjective mechanical advice? Good luck getting better. Coaches buy all this tech to hide behind the lack of understanding of how motor learning actually works. The grass isn’t greener.

I love tech and think that the coaches who combine a deep understanding of skill acquisition and utilization of tech are the best in the world at what they do. However it’s all too common to see coaches buy a trackman only to throw 17 different cues at an athlete in a matter of a 30 pitch bullpen leaving the athlete even more confused just to pay for another $100 lesson next week
