After nearly 15 years in exile, Asala is returning to Damascus for her first concert in Syria since 2011. But calls to cancel her performance from Salafi religious figures have turned her homecoming into a larger debate over the kind of Syria emerging after Assad.

PolyBlog spent a day on the road with ACTC PT @actcpt.lb , in partnership with the Railway and Public Transport Authority @ocftc.lb under Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport @mopwtleb , exploring Lebanon’s public bus network and what it means for a country where reliable, accessible public transportation remains a pressing need.

🇪🇺Women Leading, YEPP Growing 🇪🇺

In the first photo, I stand with pride, looking at the incredible group who made this journey meaningful.

At @youthepp and @nngg_es ,we believe ideas only matter when they turn into action. This camp in Madrid 🇪🇸 was our commitment to addressing a real challenge: ensuring that women’s participation in political and professional spaces is not just encouraged, but strengthened and sustained.

Through shared experiences, inspiring speakers, and honest reflection, we created a space where leadership, determination, and responsibility took shape. It is, without a doubt, one of the projects with a long-term vision that I feel most proud to have been part of, and I truly hope it becomes the foundation of something much greater in the future.

Grateful to all our collaborators from @kasfrankreich @councilofeurope , all speakers and everyone who contributed so meaningfully to this experience: thank you @luisllobregat for helping us-I truly hope this experience shows the beauty of the international differences and the importance of our broader connections; also, forever grateful to my office, friends and even former colleagues @98danibussi @carmeengtt @chiaranotonica that were with me all along this project ✨🌟💫.

We move forward with a clear conviction: a better society is one where women’s leadership is not the exception, but the norm.

KSYD was proudly represented by Charelle Chakhtoura at the YEPP @youthepp Women Leadership & Politics Camp, held in Madrid, Spain, in June 2026.

Over five inspiring days, participants from across Europe and beyond exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and explored ways to strengthen youth participation, women’s leadership, democratic engagement, and political representation.
