Black Girl Sabbatical: Part II 🧭 Explore ✈️ My parents are the OG explorers. My Father immigrated to the US from Nigeria to study at university. He met my mother who is from Japan in San Francisco in the 70s. 🌍Leaving your home country in your 20s to find a new life is incredibly brave. Thanks to my parents bravery, sacrifice and handwork I live an incredible life. 🗺️I get my adventurous spirit from my mom. As a kid I love going anywhere with my Mom! She knew all the interesting spots in the Bay Area! 🇻🇳A hole in the wall Vietnamese spot with the best Ban Mi. 🖼️Random antique shops with funky art. 🍡She found a Japanese grocery store with my favorite snacks (mochi) in Berkley. 🙌🏾Everyday adventures with my Mom made time with her so fun. I embody her spirit everywhere I go. Exploring the French Riviera took me to tiny art galleries meeting local artist, rocking my birthday suit without shame at nude beaches in San Tropez and driving switchback in a drop top over looking the coastline. The whole time I thought of my parents. ♥️ Why am I telling you this? My parents took a leap of faith to find a new life in the US. When I think of them, I am reminded that I can do anything. It’s rough out there folks. And yet, we carry on. Give yourself permission to try. To say yes. To find daily adventures. We sometime wait until we can live the life we want. There’s a million reasons to say No. Too far. Too scary. Not enough money (this is real don’t get me wrong). I don’t speak the language. I want to be as brave as my parents. Embody their spirt. So in my 40s Im finding all the reasons to say yes to the things I want in life. Just like they did. We’ll see where this adventure takes me. Where will it take you? 🎥 @chocolatecityskate 📍St. Paul Du Vance (10/10 recommend), Monaco(eh, skip it), San Tropez (👙🚫🙌🏾) 👠 @charixshoes 🙌🏾 #blackgirlsabbaticals #travel #nicecotedazur #solotraveller

I Love My CHARIX — Istanbul Edition, Chapter III
A new chapter in the I Love My CHARIX campaign, produced for CHARIX, a U.S. brand, for the American market.
Set against the movement and atmosphere of Istanbul, Chapter III builds a visual language around texture, color and rhythm, the ferry as location, the city as backdrop, the shoe as the quiet center of the frame.
A compact brand film shaped through image, movement, music and sound.
 Client: CHARIX @charixshoes Market: U.S.
Model: Begüm Koçer — @kocerbegum Creative direction, production, post, sound design and original music: Yalçın Konuk

The luxury of feeling time. Set between Bodrum and the Aegean Riviera, Slow Forward for Charix considers slowness not as escape, but as a deeper way of being in the world. Here, time is felt in the aging of stone, in salt on skin, in wind across dry earth, in light that softens rather than rushes. The Aegean becomes more than a setting; it becomes a measure of life, where beauty is shaped by rhythm, weather and time itself. Created as a vertical expression of the original 16:9 brand film for social storytelling, the piece translates that sensibility into image, sound and voice. From concept to final cut, I led the project across scouting, pre-production, direction, cinematography, edit, color, original music, sound design, and voice development, shaping each element around a quieter, more elemental idea of luxury. The narration was shaped with a subtle French-German inflection, extending the film’s international tone with a softer Riviera sensibility. Best advice I have when it comes to looking good is to make sure you feel good. And, feeling good can make you look good. It is a circular phenomenon!

Day 3/100 - drawing my purchases. The age-old issue is the subject of today’s drawing. A cute, comfortable travel shoe that isn’t a sneaker. I’ve seen @charixshoes advertised for years, but I just couldn’t see them going that extra mile. When I found out that they were actually designed for walking, I decided to give them a try. Anyone a fan?? #dothe100dayproject #dothe100dayproject2026
