well, well, well, where to start?

if you told aryana 5 years ago that she would be heartbroken that basketball season was over, she would have laughed in your face. my love-hate relationship for this sport started years ago but man, now, it’s just all love.

while i always say i hate basketball, i lied. these girls, coaching staff, and fans have made me love this sport again.

the question was asked last night.. why do we even play basketball? (pretty sure we all asked ourselves this) and i would have to say, not because we’ve always done it, or because we had to, but we did it for each other. the love for the 22 girls and 5 coaches on this team is why i did it.

after not going out my 8th grade year, my mom forced me to give dwyer a chance, and man, am i glad that i did. i would not be the strong and resilient person i am today if i did not give him that chance, and then stick it out the past 4 years. many days i asked myself why, but the next day, and the day after, i still showed up. each practice challenged me to become a better version of myself and taught me how to “handle hard better.”

the hard work, dedication, blood, sweat, and tears that this team showed this season, was truly remarkable. we wanted to leave a legacy this year and we did that. it may not have been a state title like we wanted, but the work ethic we put forth is unmatched. and while i feel we deserved more, going out 21-4 is nothing short of incredible.

thank you to the girls on this team, the coaches, the parents, and the fans for everything. the past 4 years have been unbelievable.

and thank you elmwood-murdock basketball for everything. i would give anything to run one more 44… maybe.

(and ngl i didn’t know i used to rock 45 while ymca ballin’)

what a bittersweet ending. #45out
