POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Continued from the last post: The tracks from both videos are by Charley and his various collaborative projects and bands. The first by So Very! and the second by him and one of his best friends and lifelong collaborator McCarthy for a short they scored for me. All the 16mm footage not including him was shot by him or with him. All photos not including him were shot by him on 35 or 120mm film.

“There always was [Charley], and there will always be [Charley], that is always how it's going to end up.”

I dont know what life will be like without you because there has never been a life before you. We grew into ourselves together and were still figuring out who we wanted to be. The world felt like ours when we were kids and you took life on with such a ferocity. It impacted everyone more than you knew. You are the inspiration.

You are the genius, always. You had the vision. You saw the end goal. Even when you didn’t, you were always working towards one and pulling us all with you. You just wanted to make. You never stopped. I will always be your biggest fan. You are perpetually my hero. You are the visionary.

You were the coolest in your fishing hat, crocs, and shorts. You were the coolest in your bandanna headband. You were the coolest even before I pierced your ear. Before your hair was long. Before your glasses weren’t broken. Before you stopped eating meat and then started eating meat. Before you wore cologne and a tie. Everyone should want to be like every version of Charley.

I love you. I have always loved you. I will always love you. You know this. You’re my favorite. You have my whole heart. I’m sorry when I wasn’t there. For being scared. For losing my patience. For losing the end goal. You were always an optimist even when you were a self proclaimed nihilist. You are the best. You are Charley. You are love.

Hanging with Grace and Andrew, all day I was singing put your number in my phone with Grace and I don’t want to miss a thing by Aerosmith and me and Charley actually nailed the harmonies on it. We were screaming singing these two song all day I can’t remember if we went to shoplift from Eataly I think I wasn’t eating because I had no money and was pretending I was fasting for two days for health reasons which made me really loopy and I could come up with really insane none sense and I kept on making you and Grace let me tweet from your phones. I felt like a loser but also like I was really living so it didn’t matter that I was loser. I was so happy you and Grace were together I thought you were perfect eventhough you guys ended up breaking up that day 😂. I half expected this to happen half expected you to transition into talking about the how awesome the 2020s were and dimes were until you were 50. Maybe this was around the time you and Andrew started hanging out together or maybe it started earlier and you and Andrew ended up spending more time together then we ever did. I really don’t want you to be dead I really want to see you again I’m not going to see you again I’m going to cry every time I hear this stupid song now. I joked with my friend whose grandma died that I was more sad “I get it your grandma died but you never did coke with your grandma”. I never lived in New York, you told me a bunch of times over the last year you wanted to move to LA do an apartment swap with my roomate and live less crazy I wish I pushed you harder to do that maybe you wouldn’t have died maybe I would just be talking shit about you staying up too late at my apartment right now I would much rather that be the world I was in

SCORCHED EARTH — OUT NOW

Building our own utopia of art demanded that we travel all the way to Switzerland, where we found ourselves among the ruins of the old art world. We went there with MAGA monarchist Curtis Yarvin — which left us more politically stigmatised than ever. This meeting is the reason we’re a “f*scist movement” now.

A film by @tariksadouma , co-auteur @tuttifroethie_sunshinesmoothie . guest writer @ilovesinakhani . Editor in chief @rienderuiter__

Scorched Earth is available on our website right now. Find the link in bio.
