POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Back in March I had the pleasure of playing with The Texas Playboys at Cains Ballroom to celebrate its 100th anniversary. We played a bunch of Bob Wills tunes, but we also played songs of those whose portraits line the dance hall. We learned this one from/for Tennessee Ernie Ford and Kay Starr and had the chance to do it again in Turkey, TX back in April! I love every chance I get to play and hang with Jason, and I’m so thankful our dear friends at Hotel Turkey made this little video possible. Here’s one of my favorite duets with one of my favorite people! 💜@jrobertsband, video: @charliestout, mastering: @adamjodor @yellowdogstudios @hotelturkeytx

There are a lot of fine musicians coming out of Oklahoma right now and @malloryeagle is standing above the crowd with her incredible writing and one of a kind voice. “Better Man” recorded after a wonderful night of music on the Back Patio feels so familiar, because haven’t we all waited for someone to be better and just kept waiting until we couldn’t wait any more? And when we didn’t have the words to describe how that felt, Mallory did and we can all share in the unique pain that is wanting more that will never come.

With songs that shoot straight through you and a voice that lifts you up with her, Mallory is ramping up a career that will last a long time and leave a heartfelt legacy. We hope you enjoy this Boot Shop Session as deeply as we do and will come see Mallory next month when she performs at the 2024 Hotel Turkey Songwriter Festival.

Come this Sunday the @thebluelightlive will be throwing down one epic birth-versary party for a week straight. Honored to have been called on to make some special memorabilia for this throw down and stoked to unveil the limited edition screen prints for your wallways.

As always, huge thank you to the Jedi Master of Screen Prints, Mr. Jesse Garza at @thecatpalace for printing each of these babies with the upmost care.

Happy Birth-versary to #thebluelightlive - thank y’all for shaping the music scene as we know it in this great state of Tejas for the last 25 years. Cheers to 25 more. #behappy #lubbocktx #thebluelightlive #bluelightlubbock #lubbockmusic

The very first person to play on the Hotel Turkey Back Patio after we re-stablished the Hotel in 2015 was Jason Roberts. And for years he has been our friend and partner in making Bob Wills Day in Turkey, Texas the “Super Bowl” of Western Swing. So this session holds a near and dear place to our heart. Joined by the incredible Katie Shore, this performance of “I’ll Never Be Free” is everything we love about music and we hope that you will love it just as much as we do!

And you will have a chance to see Jason Roberts on September 21st as he headlines the Hotel Turkey Songwriter Festival and sings us all the amazing songs he wrote and the songs that inspired his one of a kind career.

We believe Kimmi Bitter is one of the most exciting new voices making music right now and we are so excited to debut her Boot Shop Session performing “I Can’t Unlove You”! Her classic country infused with subtle surfer rock makes for a new and unique performance that feels as warm and familiar as your favorite record on the record player. Joined by Willis Farnsworth on lead guitar and Ben Neal on the upright bass, this night in the Boot Shop after her debut performance at the Hotel Turkey is one of our favorite Boot Shop Sessions to date.

Kimmi is headed back to the Hotel Turkey on September 12th for your next chance to see her magic live and in person!

The road and all our years working with artists has brought the most amazing people to our door step and one of those wonderful people is Freddy Parish. A good friend of Charlie’s from their days in Tuscon, Freddy made his way to Turkey and was kind enough to perform “Cold July in Tucson”. What an absolute gem of a writer and performer. Freddy now resides in Tennessee and we sure are hopeful that the road brings him back to Turkey soon.
