It’s been a year since we last met @charline.overlanding & Rafiki — a year of wild roads, long journeys, dust, trails and countless adventures.

We’ve loved watching Charline take Rafiki further, explore places most of us only dream of reaching, and do it all with the strength and spirit that makes her who she is.

when Rafiki came back to us, it felt a little like welcoming an old friend back home.

We gave him the refresh he needed, brought the finish back to life, and got Rafiki looking ready for whatever comes next.

DAYS 12–15 — INTO IONA 🇦🇴

The further we travelled, the further we seemed to leave the modern world behind.

Days 12 to 15 took us deeper into Angola and towards Iona National Park — a place where roads become tracks, distances become measured in hours rather than kilometres, and a campfire becomes the evening’s entertainment.

We crossed into the remote world of southern Angola, met some of the people who call this harsh landscape home, encountered some unexpected wildlife along the way, and finally reached the entrance to Iona — one of Africa’s great wilderness frontiers.

There were no luxury lodges.
No Wi-Fi.
No crowds.
Just 4x4s, dust, enormous landscapes, wild camping and the freedom to stop wherever the road — or lack of one — took us.

And every evening ended around the fire, sharing stories beneath an African night sky.

This was only Day 15 of a 40-day expedition.
And Iona was still waiting for us…
