SISU presents a GRIT film:
“Hogsback: 12 Hours to Endure for Cancer”

Hell on Hogsback began after Pete Nelson Sr. survived a 12-hour cancer surgery and a rare stroke. To honor his father’s fight, his son Pete returned to their favorite hill in Cleveland and ran for 12 hours, inviting friends and members of the community to join him.

What began as a tribute has grown into hundreds of people enduring together so others do not have to.

I can’t help but be proud of friends when they do cool stuff, and I couldn’t be prouder of my guy @peternelsonii and the entire @sisu_sauna team right now. His event @hellonhogsback is one of a kind, I was honored to run in the three hour division this year with my good friend @cameronahouse.

I am by no means a runner, but when you’re thinking about family and friends that have gone through hell and back on their personal journeys with cancer, it makes it a lot easier. My brother @spencechecketts is a survivor and I thought a lot about how grateful I am that he is 100% cancer free for more than 20 years.

15 laps, just over 15 miles on the day, admittedly a lot of walking on the uphill but I was grateful to be there with so many good people.

At a loss for words right now.

I will post some of my reflections over the next few days, but Hell on Hogsback // Year 4 exceeded our wildest expectations.

Community is so powerful.

Congratulations to everyone who put out yesterday. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Nelson Family Foundation 501(c)(3). It’s because of this community that three families will be greatly impacted with significant funding so they can say yes to their cancer treatments, and because of your efforts, you have inspired thousands.
