I’m note quite sure anything could’ve prepared us for the misty morning back in July where we said, “We love you buddy” one last time to our Chasey boy.

Our world stood still in utter shock and grief when we learned Chase had internal bleeding from a tumor we didn’t know about. The utter shock and pain of wishing there was more we could’ve done was the hardest part. We thought we had so much more time.

Our vet shared with us that this is common in Yellow Labs, Golden Retrievers and German Shepards as they age.

The sound of your collar shaking in the morning waiting for us by the bedroom door will always be something we’ll miss. The mornings I’d forget to close the door and you’d jump on the freshly made bed with dirty paws… trips to Maine, the beach walks, kitchen dances and seeing that face by the front gate. We’ll always miss those moments but it’ll never be more than how much we miss you.

We’re so lucky to have been loved by you Chasey. @chasencomet is a whole new labor of love in your honor. 🕊️

Got her!! 👑🐝 1/4 hives we’re experimenting with…

This season’s experiment is testing frames with swarm cell that were fed royal jelly. 4 new colonies are working hard to get established 🤪

I won’t lie, I was frustrated and feeling all sorts of emotions as this swarm was high in a tree, it was hot and the new vacuum we bought wasn’t working properly. 😅 Beekeeping is full of ups and downs but worth it 🫶🏽

Hey friends, what’s up! Often times when I’m at the grocery store, at the yoga studio or running errands I bump into friends wanting to know what’s new and what’s up with the homestead Matt and I have started. It’s definitely started some hilarious conversations! I recently saw a friend talking about the #31daysofbees - here we go!

Day 1 - Who are you?

I’m Sofie 👋🏽 I grew up in Southern Maine. My other half Matt is a Nantucket native. We recently started keeping this past spring! We started with 3 nuc boxes and quickly expanded to catch a handful of swarms last summer. We are hooked!

The first photo of us is taken at our beekeeping mentors home, one of our favorite places - looking forward to sharing more with you this month 💛🍯🐝
