NEW MUSIC ROUNDUP: AUGUST This past month Harry and Janelle were blessed with plenty of new releases to chat about. These 5 were the highlights of each week ranging from local to the big stage. Which one was your favourite? #boomradio #newmusic WEEK OF THE 3RD On the 3rd we selected up ‘Smiling, She Comes Up To Me’ from up and coming blues rock band @chasing.jayme as our favourite track of the week. This was from their debut album release of the same week ‘Right Hand Drive’ which celebrated the return of the band after an injury riddled year was put behind them. This song showcases their signature sound whilst displaying the amazing progress and growth they’ve made during their year off. WEEK OF THE 10TH Heading in to this week we chose a new @florence.road track with ‘7563’. Harry has been singing the praises of Florence Road for a while now and his points were proven to be right with this release. The song tackles themes many know all too well in the feeling of being out of place and lost accompanied by an easy listening pop-rock sound. @florence.road WEEK OF THE 17TH ‘Sunshine’ from @jungle4eva was selected for this week! This song is the name sake of their 5th studio album. The song gives the exact feeling you’d expect from one of its name as Harry described it as a warm feeling. Great vibes all around from Jungle! WEEK OF THE 24TH @gangofyouths took this week’s spot with their song ‘Things Take Time’. This was their first release since 2022 and a great return at that. This song perfectly blends emotionally thought out lyrics with a beautiful arrangement of vocals, horns and strings. It’s great to hear from Gang of Youths again! WEEK OF THE 31ST The final selection for August was an @oliviarodrigo track with ‘Serena Joy’. 2026 is truly Olivia’s year and she’s not stopping that any time soon. The song, of which has a title inspired by a character of The Handmaid’s Tale, was originally gate kept ahead of her all women festival she hosted this month as well. It was exclusively released on CD on a limited 500 copies but by popular demand was later released on streaming for us all to enjoy.
