Well it was a super hard but a totally amazing day yesterday. Running a 100k in 30degree heat is possibly the most gruelling but amazing experiences I have ever had. Will never forget the magnificent views, the brutal climbs and the amazing people I met along the way. @runtasticratrunner @somegirlrunningtrails @peterwhitefitness @chasingironat50
Thank you to my friends and family for supporting me and believing I could do it!
It serves as a reminder that ordinary people can do amazing things, if you just don’t give up.

Finding your tribe is so important. As someone who has anxiety and rather shy, I find making friends hard.

My confidence has grown a lot in the last few years, but I so hugely appreciate the few friends I do have. 🙌🏼

Longbridge 100 Backyard Ultra - Summer 2025

My 3rd BYU and I wanted to reach 24 laps. My legs have felt strong this year and handled the SDW really well. The only concern I had was that my feet were still healing. Nothing a few compeeds shouldn’t be able to deal with…. Right?

Was great to see some familiar faces such as @zoe_salt_photography and @mr_pops_runs alongside lots of @seafordstriders including @phieee18 @adam_h_86 @bry_runner_mtb @marathon.effort and Joel.

A field of 45 of us set off at 6pm and my first lap was a bit quicker than usual at 47 minutes. By Lap 3, it became clear to me that something felt off, I was fighting hard and was struggling with the heat so poured jugs of water over my head and continued to do so for the next few laps. As night fell, and temperatures dropped slightly and after a firm word with myself on lap 6 to get a grip, I was quickly in back in my normal groove again.

My usual tactic of walk the ups and run the flats and downs was working well, but now I found my left calf was in agony. Decided I needed to mix it up, so started running a bit more of the inclines to stretch the muscle and thankfully this worked.

As this was summer solstice, the shortest night, sunrise and the heat would be back with us soon. It was on everyone’s mind and the field had halved after only 10 laps.

As always, I was crewed by @lucindaboo who made sure I always had everything I needed. I was struggling to eat so mainly ate minestrone soup and gels as everything felt too dry to swallow.

I swapped between my Brooks Caldera 7’s and my ASICS Gel Trabuco 13s. Both faired well but I was blistering badly on the insides of my heels. Think of red egg yolks!

With the sun scorching down and temperatures close to 30c, I knew my original target of 24 was now unlikely. Once I hit 15, I knew I had to go one more to beat last year, and after lap 16 (110km and 3100m elevation), I called it a day. Some things you just can’t prepare for!

Thanks to @3wordruns and @janeevans_hypnotherapy for another amazing and beautiful event. The support on the day was incredible. Thank you to so many of you cheering me on. Congrats to Adrian for the win! I’ll be back!

Support running
ASICS Event where I met the amazing Holly @rushbynature , spoke on a panel about physical activity and the amazing benefits it can have on our mental health (I was absolutely terrified but there was no way I could not do this as it means so much to me)
Saw the results of the amazing photo shoot opportunity that my West Sussex Mind run group had, including some great kit gifted to us all.
Asics Gel kayano 31 promotion "Supporting You, Supporting Mind" went live and helped to raise much needed funds to help and support the people that need our help.

I was so excited for this, have had it booked since last year. 🤩

As an ambassador for @runrebeluk I was lucky enough to be gifted my space, which was very generous of the team. 🙌🏼

Such a gorgeous route, around the beautiful Thorny island, super well organised, fab marshals, and great company. 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️

I ran with 2 of my lovely friends @mr_pops_runs and @kirstyswyaptonpagham so it was actually more like a day out than a run.

Super fun exploring more of this beautiful part of Hampshire, which until last weekend, I had never been to which is mental as it’s only 30mins away from me. 🩷🌳

My god I love trail running, I think goal next year (when I can drive again!) will be to definitely do more of it.

Goal for today, was not a time goal, but was to have fun. 🤩

Mission accomplished. 🥳

First time back @dripnrunclub for 6 weeks👌🏻

No running yet for me, still a couple of weeks away but had a bit of a walk and a dip (that sea felt cold after the time away 🌊🥶)

But soooo good to see this amazing bunch of people again! Its felt like my legs had been chopped off over the time away!😬

It’s half term week, so even had a couple of @isabellagray2016 mini’s with us!☺️
