Caption as: that time my audacity got the better of me building a video wall of 24 CRT TVs

Spring of 2024 I had the most ambitious weekend of my life. Two days after the biggest and most ambitious video shoot I’d directed we had to regroup and do it all over again for another video. We started the day with only some theoretical hunches as to how this would work both in construction and in technicality, and despite going over our shoot time by 5 hours we ended up pulling the whole thing off.

24 Individual TV assets programmed together into two separate video files from two separate computers ran through two video matrix boxes then converted from HDMI into AV and some HDMI -> AV -> RF/Coax. Spent about $1200 just on the adapters and cables alone. Huge undertaking that was only barely possible because of some incredible help and buy-in from @isaacdeitz @mickdaniels92 @troy_de_luca @chasmcbee and others.

1. A clip from the music video for ‘You’re So Ugly When You Cry’ by @tfp_devotion
2-4 Some of the construction
5. The setup behind the monstrosity
6-7 Finally put together
8-11 A full playthrough of the TV assets (this was the first time everyone had seen the whole thing all the way through after nearly 11 hours of work)
12-15 Handycam BTS of the day

“Well I guess this is growing up” from Dammit by Blink except in a positive cool happy way. Song should be called “Hell yeah” instead imo

2025 - if I were to sum up this year, it was the all consuming @kick.the.ladder
This year I started and finishing making the website I’ve had stuck in my head for 5+ years. Quoted $70k by website developers, so I hunkered down and figured it out. 1,000+ films added to the site by the first week of launch.

Kick The Ladder was also featured at the @atlantafilmfestival and @peaberryfest
And I was invited to bring KTL to my hometown in Syracuse, New York and made some films with friends I made stuff with when I was 14.

I also acted in VBS which premiered at the ATLFF (directed by @milliewitherow ) and @lambofgodfilm a film I shot premiered at @thetaraatlanta (directed by @audreydeitz )
I’ve directed over 20+ different films premiere in front of a live audience this year.

Now that the bulk of the work of @kick.the.ladder is stable, I’m looking forward to getting back to directed music videos and working on other projects.

If you’ve been wanting to work with me on a film, hit me up, I’m hoping to make a lot of music videos this year.

Thanks for being a part of my life and supporting me even from a distance.

My house has only had heat for about 10 days this month and my car doesn’t have any either so my new holiday tradition is a huge electric bill w space heaters and thinking back to warm beaches and towels and dance floors and film sets and after parties and breakfast to-go orders and yurts and just good ole fashioned red-blooded american love to warm my heart and extremities

Merry Christmas it’s okay we’re allowed to say that again !
