When someone at the Indiana State Fair says they’re “on the dirt,” it means they’re actually down on the show floor in the coliseum, showing their animal to earn the ultimate win! It’s more than just going to the fair—it means being part of the competition, spending long days and nights caring for your animal, getting dirty, working hard, tears of joy and tears of disappointment and experiencing the excitement and nerves of show day.

For livestock families, being “on the dirt” is kind of a way of life during the State Fair. It’s early mornings, late nights, hard work, friends, competition, and a whole lot of memories made right there on the show floor, aka “The Dirt”. ❤️ This is a goal of every livestock kid and their families. History of family members doing it before them and hopes of family members to do it after them! Some get to experience it more than once, and others only get to experience maybe once or never so whatever it may be, you take it all in and remember it and are grateful for the feeling!!

An evening in the vineyard with Clayton & Chaynee. 🤍
These two are the sweetest together, and I loved getting to photograph this season of their lives. As someone who grew up in the livestock industry, getting to document couples who share that same way of life will always be extra special to me.
I already know their wedding day is going to be a good one, and I can't wait to celebrate with them!
