Last Saturday was a good day at the office…

It reminded me why I decided to “retire” from Investment Banking and set up My Tribe Coaching UK: It was never about pretending that I was the best tennis coach, but about creating a space where girls and women could feel comfortable while learning and enjoying the game.

As a new coach, I am continuously striving to refine my coaching style to best channel my 40+ years of tennis experience... But what I already bring to the court is my passion for the sport, an empathetic approach and an understanding that women are not smaller versions of men… A lower testosterone-to-estrogen ratio certainly means that muscling up takes a lot more efforts 😉

Tennis has always been my happy place but it has never been just about tennis. Determination, resilience, self-confidence and teamwork are some of the many lifeskills that I learned while playing and competing. That in turn helped me build a successful career that also got me to live in several countries (collect 2 new passports along the way🧐) and meet many brilliant people too.

Even if getting MyT off the ground hasn’t been a walk in the park, it has been a privilege to be able to share what I have received from the sport. And I must say that it is also quite special to witness a young girl (who nearly gave up on the sport because she had been led to believe that she wasn’t fast, strong or fit enough to play with the boys) celebrate a “jailbreak” win, make new friends on the court or discover her very own happy place! ⭐️

Thank you so much to @hermove.eg and @eastgrinsteadsportsclub for understanding that sports belong to girls too 🫶

Between gender stereotypes setting in and adolescence often leading to lower confidence levels for girls, female participation in sports tends to drop before adulthood.

Fewer opportunities to be physically active and learn important life skills can have a dramatic effect on their health and well-being.

At My Tribe Coaching, we want to create an inclusive coaching environment as well as a supportive network where girls can continue to grow, develop friendships and enjoy tennis in a safe space.
