What a year it has been… truly a rollercoaster from day one.

I came to the US with no plan (still don’t know what’s next either, but I’m romanticizing this phase… so yes, making my own cinematic video 😂)….no housing, nothing…just trusted my instincts (which are wrong 80% of the time, btw 😂). And somehow, everything slowly fell into place at the right time.

A lot of holding on. A lot of letting go.
More plot twists than any movie… honestly felt like I was living as the main character every single minute (against my will sometimes 😂).

From online bullying, termination, rejections, losses, autoimmune flare-ups, tiny accidents… to even breaking my whole face…every time I thought, okay, this has to be it, life somehow gave me another little reason to keep going.

And here I am.

Wearing a white dress that was technically supposed to be saved for marriage… but life said, girl, first survive the character development arc and get your degree 😂

So yes…..consider this my “married to my struggles, committed to the plot” moment.

From my first iPhone, first international flight, first Holi, first graduation…
to finally feeling confident in my own body, my first tattoo, my first crazy hungover pass-out, and way too many Wattpad moments…

The story still goes on.

People say God puts His strongest soldiers on the front line….safe to say I’ve been one of His all-time favorites (privileged lol).

Met so many beautiful people along the way, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Not everyone stayed, but somehow, someone was always there exactly when I needed them the most.

And finally….my parents.
Even though I say I grew on my own, none of this would’ve been possible without them.

And as I always say….
just go with the flow. Life goes on.
Trust the process 🤍

The Illinois Space Society’s Solid Propulsion team and students in AE199, Rocket Development/Safety/Leadership successfully conducted a hot fire test

“This marks the program’s first demonstration of a horizontal test capability which sustained a max thrust of 1,345 N for a total burn time of 7.1 seconds,” said Joseph Gonzalez, aerospace engineering instructor and faculty advisor for the team. “From initial requirements definition through design, fabrication, and execution, the team followed a disciplined, systems engineering approach aligned with industry practices. This milestone reflects not only strong technical performance, but also the team’s resilience in overcoming challenges across safety, integration, and test operations.”

Gonzalez noted that everything was manufactured by Dustin Burns and his team in the Talbot Laboratory machine shop.

Meet the @illinois1867 undergraduates who spent their summer at Mayo Clinic as part of the 2025 Health Equity Research Experience (HERE), Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), and the Clinical Research Internship Study Program (CRISP).

For 10 weeks this summer, 15 Illinois undergrads worked alongside Mayo Clinic faculty. Students interested in these programs are invited to a poster session and celebration at @beckmanillinois on Sept. 4.

As we prepare to announce our third cohort of the Emerging Research Leaders Academy, we want to take a moment to spotlight the incredible work of Maggie Berg, IHSI's Senior Research Development Manager.

Many faculty and research units have contributed to ERLA's success, but we can all agree that Dr. Berg is the driving force behind the mid-career leadership development program.

In addition to developing the initial concept, Dr. Berg collaborated with experts from across campus to develop a leadership program that addresses a wide range of topics facing mid-career faculty.

The Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering department now offers a Chemical Engineering + Data Science (ChemE+DS) bachelor's degree. This program blends chemical engineering with data science to enhance innovation, decision-making, and design. Postdoc Sae Rome Choi, in Professor Bumsoo Han’s lab, co-authored a study on a folded DNA molecule that targets malignant pancreatic cells, this molecule is reflected on the wall above.

An experience so nice, she did it twice! Molly Fried, a CMN major minoring in business, is a communications and marketing intern for @chbeillinois and previously served as a web intern for @uofigrainger's Marketing and Communication team.

For Molly, the best part of the CMN undergraduate internship program was how it encouraged her to explore different career possibilities while getting real-world experience.
