So often, we settle for less not because we don't want better, but because we’ve convinced ourselves we aren't worthy of it. We look at our own cracks, our messiness, and the parts of us that feel broken, and we start believing that we don't deserve the better things that life offers us.

But having scars doesn't mean you have to lower your standards. None of us are entirely whole, and that’s okay. You don't need to be perfect to deserve a love that feels like home.

We are all fragmented in our own ways, yet every single piece still deserves warmth. None of us are whole, and none of us need to be.

Some books you read, and others make you feel like you’re living between their pages. 🥹📖

The Perks of Being a Wallflower was one of those books for me. Beautifully heartbreaking, painfully relatable, and filled with moments that made me want to hug Charlie through the pages.

I laughed, I teared up, and I finished wishing I could experience it all over again for the first time. An easy 5 stars. ⭐️

Os livros podem intimidar-nos por várias razões: o género, o autor, a quantidade de hype à volta deles… ou simplesmente o TAMANHO! 😂

E, neste momento, o meu maior inimigo é Amigo Imaginário, do Stephen Chbosky. 🫣📖

VOCÊS JÁ VIRAM O TAMANHO DESTE TIJOLO?! 😭 É que isto já não é um livro, é a melhor arma de autodefesa que qualquer leitor pode ter! 😂🔪📚 Escusado será dizer que o que me intimida é mesmo o número de páginas… porque pegar nisto é praticamente assinar um contrato de longa duração. 🤡

Mas agora preciso de saber: já leram Amigo Imaginário? Vale a pena o investimento de tempo ou devo continuar a olhar para ele de longe? 👀😂

Books can intimidate us for so many reasons: the genre, the author, all the hype surrounding them… or simply the SIZE! 😂

And right now, my biggest enemy is Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky. 🫣📖

HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF THIS BRICK?! 😭 This isn't just a book anymore, it's the best self-defence weapon any reader could own! 😂🔪📚 Needless to say, it's the page count that scares me… picking this up is basically signing a long-term contract. 🤡

But now I need to know: have you read Imaginary Friend? Is it worth the time commitment, or should I keep admiring it from a safe distance? 👀😂

📚 Banning books isn’t protecting readers. It’s controlling what stories they’re allowed to hear. And quite frankly? That’s some bullsh*t. 🙃 
Last week was Banned Books Week, but the fight against censorship doesn’t end when the week is over. 
Books are supposed to challenge us. Make us uncomfortable. Introduce us to people, experiences, and perspectives different from our own. That’s literally part of the magic of reading. ✨ 
You don’t have to like every book. You don’t have to agree with every author. Hell, you don’t even have to finish a book you hate. But your personal discomfort shouldn’t determine what someone else gets to read. 
So, we’re putting the spotlight on some of 2025’s most banned books and giving them the attention they deserve, one color palette at a time. 🎨📚

Because banning books isn’t the flex some people think it is. 💅

a week of banned books, independent bookstores, and stories worth talking about. 📚✨

in honor of Banned Books Week, I spent my week reading three challenged books:

📖 Fahrenheit 451 by @raybradburyofficial
📖 Looking for Alaska @johngreenwritesbooks
📖 The Perks of Being a Wallflower by @chboskys

three five-star reads that reminded me just how powerful storytelling can be.

I also made a point to visit two of Wichita’s independent bookstores, @watermarkbooksandcafe and @finaldraftbooks , both of which celebrated the freedom to read. 🫶🏼

there’s something incredibly special about walking into a bookstore and seeing stories that have been challenged being proudly displayed instead of hidden away.

books aren’t always supposed to make us comfortable. they’re supposed to make us think, question, empathize, and sometimes even challenge what we believe.

here’s to protecting the freedom to read, supporting our local bookstores, and keeping stories accessible to everyone. 🕯️
