YOUR WORK DESERVES TO BE SEEN.

When I created OutWest, I wanted it to be more than a beautiful place to take photographs. I wanted a space where creativity is celebrated, photographers have opportunities to grow, and the incredible talent in our community gets the recognition it deserves.

We’ve been saying, “OutWest is the gallery. You are the art.” Now we’re bringing that idea to life!

Introducing the OUTWEST OPEN CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHY!

10 PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE SELECTED.

Photographers who have created work at our Caldwell or Garden City location are invited to enter. The 10 photographs with the most Instagram likes will be professionally printed, framed, and displayed on our gallery wall AND published in the inaugural issue of OUTWEST, our new editorial magazine celebrating the creatives who bring these spaces to life.

🏆 PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD: The photographer with the most likes also wins a complimentary four-hour OutWest booking, valued at $350!

HOW TO ENTER:

1. Publish a photograph taken at either OutWest location as a NEW Instagram feed post. (You may enter up to 3 separate photos—each with its own post / entry)
2. Include OUTWEST OPEN CALL in your caption, explain the opportunity, ask followers to LIKE your post to vote, and credit your creative team.
3. Invite BOTH @outwestcreativehouse and @theoutwest.collective as collaborators.
4. Share your entry and encourage your community to vote!

SUBMISSIONS & VOTING CLOSE NOVEMBER 15 (extended from OCTOBER 31) AT 5 PM MT. Winners announced shortly after.

Haven’t photographed at OutWest yet? There’s still time to book a session in Garden City and participate.

Imagine bringing your clients into OutWest and showing them your photograph hanging on our gallery wall, or opening a magazine and seeing your work published alongside other talented local creatives. I can’t wait to see our community’s work celebrated this way!

Swipe for the details, and share this with your photographer friends.

SEE THE COMMENTS FOR OFFICIAL CONTEST DETAILS & RULES.

It is FRIGHTENING to take on this much overhead. It’s a huge risk, and I truly rolled the dice on OutWest because there is absolutely zero guarantee that a dream will pay off.

You can have an idea. You can have hope. You can have faith. But at some point, you have to take that leap into the unknown abyss and trust that something good is waiting on the other side (if you work your behind off).

The first eight days of October have absolutely BLOWN MY MIND! We are already doubling my original first-quarter revenue goal, and that is only possible because of YOU.

Thank you to every photographer, entrepreneur, business owner, and creative who has booked OutWest, purchased a membership, shared a post, told a friend, or simply cheered us on.

And to those of you who reserved a membership before we even opened our doors, I hope you know how much that meant to me. You took a chance on a vision before you could even experience the finished space. That kind of support is something I will never take for granted. Tagging you because I’m forever grateful to be partnered with these amazing photographers and businesses!

What excites me most is that the better OutWest does, the better this space gets FOR YOU! Every booking allows me to continue investing in beautiful furniture, unique props, new sets, and creative possibilities that help YOU grow your own businesses.

My vision for OutWest has always been bigger than renting out a photography studio. I want to create a place where entrepreneurs can build their brands, photographers can grow thriving businesses, and creative people have access to a space that inspires them to do their best work.

I’ve always believed that building a business that helps other businesses succeed is one of the most rewarding things you can do.

Thank you for helping turn a really big, really scary dream into something real. I appreciate every single one of you! 🙏🏼

WE ARE HERE TO MAKE THEM REMEMBER YOU!

If you’re a photographer, Christmas mini season can be one of the smartest business-building opportunities of your year.

Of course, there’s the immediate revenue. You can create a beautiful setup, dial in your lighting and workflow, and photograph multiple clients back-to-back in one concentrated block of time.

But the bigger opportunity might be what happens after Christmas.

Every new person who books a mini gets to experience what it’s like to work with you. They see how you interact with their kids, whether you can make an awkward husband laugh, how comfortable you make them feel and, eventually, how you edit and deliver their images.

For someone who has followed your work but hasn’t committed to a full session, a Christmas mini can be an easy first yes.

So instead of only asking, “How many sessions can I book this Christmas?” consider asking, “How many new people can I introduce to my business before I walk into a new year?”

If you photograph 20 families and 10 are new clients, your work just entered 10 new homes. It may land on Christmas cards, get shared on social media and be shown to friends and family.

More importantly, those 10 families now know you.

Next year, they may need maternity photos, newborn photos, senior pictures, family photos, branding photography or another Christmas session. They may also be the person who recommends you when someone asks for a photographer.

That’s when Christmas minis become more than a holiday promotion. They become a client-acquisition strategy.

And don’t forget about the content you’re creating along the way. Behind-the-scenes footage, finished galleries, client reactions and testimonials can continue marketing your business long after the Christmas decorations come down.

Christmas gives photographers a natural reason to get a lot of new people in front of their cameras at the same time.

The opportunity is to turn Christmas clients into year-round clients.

That’s how you use a busy Christmas season to help build an even stronger business next year. 🎄📸

OutWest gives you the space, variety and Christmas setups to batch those sessions efficiently while giving your clients an experience they’ll remember.

A flag sweater that doesn’t try too hard.
Because neither do you. 🇺🇸

Knit in, not printed on.
Pair it with some denim and you’re good to go.

You’re the occasion. Every time. 🤎

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our September Members-Only Roundtable!

It was great to bring ASA of Idaho members together for an open conversation about labor market pressures, contract terms, safety trends, and what subcontractors are seeing across Idaho’s construction market.

A special thank you to our sponsors Sherwin-Williams, Brant Freeman & Associates, and Hydro Drilling Company for supporting the event and helping make these member conversations possible.

And thank you to all of our members who showed up, shared their perspectives, and contributed to the discussion.

Missed this one? Stay connected for upcoming events and ways to get involved. Visit asaofidaho.com to learn more about our mission, membership, and what’s coming next.

ALL SIX ICONS HAVE BEEN REVEALED. ✨

Now we’re opening the doors.

THE ICONS: GOLDEN LIGHT ERA
September 9 | 5:30–8:30 PM

This was originally created as a private OutWest event, but we’re opening it up to a handful of photographers who want to experience OutWest right as we open and immediately start building their OutWest portfolios.

And your lineup is GOOD.

@quinnguterman
@kelcidouglas
@makeupbymorgandyer
@boisesocialite
@madddiereed
@bri__blume

Six incredible local ICONS. Six completely different personalities, brands and stories to photograph.

Each ICON will have professional hair + makeup and move through multiple sets throughout our sprawling 5,000-square-foot Creative House.

OutWest will be fully open for you to experience, and we’ll chase that late-summer golden light as it moves through the space, giving you different sets, light, angles and opportunities to create throughout the night.

And these nights are about so much more than getting the shot.

You’ll photograph and socialize with our ICONS, create alongside other talented local photographers and creatives, make connections and get to know the community growing inside OutWest.

The energy at these events is something you just have to experience.

Different photographers. Different lenses. Different perspectives. One really beautiful night.

Light snacks + drinks will be provided.
