Sometimes I look back at old pictures of myself and realize just how much I’ve changed, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too.
I used to spend my days drinking, partying, sleeping until 1pm, and skipping the gym. Drinking was how I coped with stress, and honestly, I wasn’t taking care of myself the way I deserved. I don’t look back at that version of me with shame, but I know I never want to feel the way I did back then again.
Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with running and working out. They became the things I looked forward to, the things that helped me clear my head when life felt overwhelming, and the things that made me feel like myself again. Instead of waking up feeling like I wasted another day, I started waking up excited to see what I could do with it.
I think one of the best things you can do for yourself is find something that makes you feel good from the inside out. For me, it was running, lifting, and learning how to deal with life without constantly needing an escape.
I’m not perfect, and growth isn’t always linear, but I’m genuinely so thankful for the life I live now. I love my routines, I love how I feel, and I love that I’ve found healthier ways to handle the hard days.
This is your reminder that you can outgrow old habits, old versions of yourself, and the things you once thought you needed. You don’t have to stay the same just because that’s who you used to be. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’ll never stop choosing the life that makes me feel this good. 🫶🏼

THE CANCELLATION | MOAB 240

I arrived at the Road 46 aid station, took a nap, woke up, and went to the bathroom. Somewhere in those quiet moments, it hit me. I was ready to take some souls.

Then I was told the race had been cancelled.

In a matter of seconds, everything I had spent months working toward felt like it had been taken away from me. I sat there trying to comprehend what had happened, why it had happened, and what I was supposed to do next.

I had trained for this. I had sacrificed for this. I had come all this way, and at mile 171, I felt better and more ready than I had in hours.

I could have stopped there. But after sitting with it, I came to a decision. The race might have been cancelled, but my journey wasn’t over.

So I got up, and I kept moving.

Not for a finish time. Not for a podium. Not for a buckle. But because I still had 69 miles left in me, and I wasn’t ready to quit.

The plan changed. The reason didn’t.
