These are the dishes from our Zambian and South African-inspired menu by William J M Chilila.

It was such a great experience to taste something genuinely different and discover new flavours through William’s cooking.

Thank you William, Ope and Angelo for an amazing night.

These are words I wish my younger self heard before going around the houses, to prove I was someone or something. Note to my people out there struggling just like I did for many years, You have a purpose bigger than any accolade. YOU are Loved. YOU have a PURPOSE. LIVE ON PURPOSE, in YOUR PURPOSE 🙏🏽
Thank you Chef Opy for educating and inspiring me.

Another Black Chef Q&A… 👨🏾‍🍳👩🏿‍🍳

This time, I asked a simple question:

“Outside of your own culture, what’s your favourite Black cuisine?”

It sounds like an easy question… until you actually have to answer it. 🤔

A lot of us grow up eating our own cultural food so regularly that we don’t always stop to explore the incredible diversity of Black cuisines around the world. It’s a question that really gets you thinking.

I put the question to:
✨ Chef Alex
✨ @crumblemania_uk
✨ Chef Carniel Levy @b_thatchef
✨ @chef_opy

The answers?

🇯🇲 Caribbean
🇳🇬 Nigerian
🇭🇹 Haitian
🇬🇾 Guyanese

Now it’s your turn… 👇

Outside of your own culture, what’s your favourite Black cuisine? Let’s hear your answers in the comments.

@ukblackchefsnetwork had the pleasure of being part of a truly special event at @binghamriverhouse — a beautiful Black woman-owned boutique hotel, bar and restaurant.

Hosted for the @blackfeministfund , the event was catered by @the_futureplate and @chishuru , with the kitchen led by our very own Michelin-starred Chef @jokebakare . Guests enjoyed incredible canapés by @chef_opy , followed by a thoughtfully curated three-course West African fine dining menu.

It was an amazing experience working alongside such a talented team of chefs. We collaborated seamlessly, shared knowledge, discovered new West African flavours and techniques, and created something truly memorable together.

Opportunities like this are a reminder of the power of representation, collaboration and excellence within our industry. Grateful to have been part of it.

What an incredible week full of innovation, creativity and collaboration with @samuelmonsour @chefkiranjethwa and @palmiroocampo as well as @bettinas_kitchen @rinku.dutt1 and @chef_opy 💚

From counter takeovers to masterclasses, panel talks and more, it was a week of discussion and most importantly action in tackling the climate crisis.

Finishing off a feverish week at @ldnclimateweek serving “1.5°C Cooler”, a colour-changing tea that transforms with a squeeze of lemon. 🍋

A tiny change, a big difference. 🫶

Now it’s time to hibernate until this heat gives us a break.
