our love affair with clams continued this summer with Ruth & Bob Toth in July’s @ourstatemag. gems of human beings, these two have lived quite a life — in my mind, Ruth is “our” (Ocracoke-Hatteras-OBX region’s) Julia Child and Bob is the finest kind of human. @ryanstancil covers a lot of ~Sound~ 🙃 in this one; generations of a beloved family bring a story about a bivalve and a matriarch and and a restaurant and an island full circle, punctuated by cameos from our besties @easongoins @sarahwgoins and their spawn.

I really, really love this story and I really, really loved creating it with @ryanstancil. what an honor and a gift this is to create with and about (and for!) people you revere. deepest, endless gratitude to Ruth, Bob & The Goins Family for sharing so much of their lives and time with us over the many years. we are so very grateful.

swipe to the end and you’ll see some surprise cameos from Fig Festival headliners, who Ruth & Bob have taken under their clam-raking wings over the years. and don’t worry, no clamming grounds were divulged in the making of the story, so good luck out there if you go for a soak.
