I made Pap Chips! Swipe left to see the recipe and my inspo!
Behind every great chef/cook there’s an army of other chefs and great teachers. We spend time learning and reading cookbooks but the more meaningful lessons for me are from those who are also trying to “make it” just like you. Those who share without expecting anything in return.

Swipe left to see what went down on last night’s episode and where I got my Pap Chips idea from.

@chefbenev posted a dish on his what’s app status and while I didn’t ask him about it when I saw it, the idea of pap chips stayed with me. I later asked him and he didn’t hesitate to share this with me.

While I was busy with my cook, I realised that I might be playing it too safe because “FEAR” of being too extra and messing it up. I decided to spend more time refining my flavours instead of working on too many elements. This recipe came to me because I was trying to see how I can further push the envelope. I didn’t remember the details but I went with it anyway and it worked. It saved my ass because I was already skating on thin ice.

Ben and I met through @tebello.motsoane. All three of us worked on Tibs’ pop up restaurant. Lol we were actually Three Chancers and Risk Takers that made it work. And that spirit of risk taking took over my cook last night.

The sooner we realise that sharing knowledge, resources and letting others in doesn’t take anything away from us, the better. There’s space for all of us to flourish, we just have to bring each other along.

Ben is an amazing chef and he’s doing such great things, I mean he said TEST KITCHEN! Thank you Ben! Wishing you all the best ngwana ko gae ❤️

On the plate we have:

1. Crumbed chicken on a bed of baby spinach and creamy mushroom pasta;

2. A mash-filled bell pepper (mash was made with just salt, pepper, chives, cheese sauce and grated cheddar - make sure to get a bit of color on the lid before removing from oven, that way you know the cheese topping inside is nicely melted); and

3. Glazed baby carrot (oriental style with butter, brown sugar and ginger)

With an imbalanced circadian rhythym, dinner sometimes gets cooked at 9.30PM. 🤦🏾‍♂️🔥

In such cases, the oven is your best friend because I want something quick and easy💡

Veggies 🥒🥦🧄, in.

Scored and seasoned chicken pieces 🍗🍗🍗, in.

⏰ 30 - 40 Mins on bake with last 10 minutes on broil. (Don't forget to flip and bast both sides of the chicken so they can both get some love and develop a crispy amd seasoned crust.)

OUT COMES A MASTERPIECE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

ALL INGREDIENTS AVAILABLE AT @checkers_sa!!!!!
