Every chef I’ve crossed paths with on this journey has contributed something to my growth — a lesson, an inspiration, a challenge, or a memory that I’ll always carry with me. My son Dennis is off to Germany. He has been with us since we landed in Accra, helping us navigate transitioning to a new life in a different, fascinating and at times trying culture. Many people told me if you can find one good person here that you can trust, you’re fortunate. The Divine placed a ram in the thicket. Before we called an answer was prepared. We have been beyond fortunate and beyond blessed to have had Dennis by our side and in our home. Many of you know that I am a chef, Dennis is a chef as well. In the seven months that we’ve been here I’ve literally cooked maybe four times since landing in Accra - and Dennis can COOK!!!! Yes, we have been spoiled. When I was saying goodbye to him today, I couldn’t hold back the tears. To say, I am grateful for this young man is an understatement. I pray the Divine’s richest blessings on you, sweetheart. That your going out and your coming in will be covered with grace, mercy and abundance. Profile of your Food, Clothing and Beverages Nominee: DENNIS KWABENA ASOM (CHEF DENNIS) Dennis Kwabena Asom is a culinary professional and founder of the ChefDennisGH brand, with over a decade of experience in hospitality across Ghana and internationally. He is a graduate of Accra Technical University, where he earned a Higher National Diploma in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management, building a foundation in hospitality management, culinary operations and institutional catering he has extended through international exposure. His technical range spans Mediterranean, Latin American, Italian and Asian cuisine, and his experience includes senior kitchen roles in high-end international hotels. He served as Expat Chef de Partie at Vogue Supreme Hotel, Bodrum, Türkiye (2023–2024) and subsequently at Ethno Belek Hotel, Antalya (2024–2025), managing kitchen sections, ensuring food safety compliance and collaborating with international teams in large-scale luxury operations. His wider competencies include kitchen operations management, food cost analysis and event coordination. A notable highlight is his collaboration on “Afcave Ghana,” a culinary initiative led by Cynthia Chea Péan, personal chef to Will Smith — an engagement that placed him within high-level international standards and promoted visibility for Ghanaian culinary talent abroad. His commitment to the next generation is equally clear. He has served as a Guest Judge for the Baby Chef Competition, mentoring aspiring chefs aged 6 to 12 with encouragement and practical feedback. He was awarded “Star of the Month” at Nyonyo Essentials (2017).
