There is a lack high-end events which take place in GQ unfortunately because they're either not well supported, not advertised well enough, ppl don't have enough disposable income or they're waiting to see what the hype is like before purchasing their ticket.

So when something unique catches our attention I am 1st to put my hand up and support local. We trust that the organisers have done the planning to the tee and that we will be treated to a professional event and that we'd talk up the organisers/sponsors in an effort to boost our events scene. MAYBE WE TRUST TOO EASY ...

We were recently invited to a high-end event by up-and-coming private chef, @ChefMandaba.Comm for a private table experience, fine dining as well as popular guests, influencers and celebrities in attendance.

The cost pp was R800. We are hungry (excuse the pun) for something different and quickly purchased our tickets to the event. The ladies of course had spent money on outfits, hair, nails etc and the event happened to fall on a very good friends birthday so a birthday outing was in order.

While getting ready to attend the event, meant to start at 5pm, we get a message from a friend saying the organiser has decided to postpone (at 3pm ON THE DAY). Needless to say tempers flared, calls were made and some harsh words were spoken. Highly annoyed at this, we made alternative plans and demanded our money back from the organise. We were no longer interested in attending at a later date after the terrible practice the organiser displayed in canceling the event mere hours before it was meant to start.

Fast forward 2 weeks later and still we are waiting for our refund which was promised to us. I've reached out on several occassions in an effort to ammicably resolve this dispute BUT radio silence.

This same individual was seen out on the weekend drinking and partying with very little regard for what he owes. R800 is no small change in this harsh economy.

I don't believe in breaking people down and harming people's reputation because it's already so difficult out there and ppl need a leg up BUT when you treat people with such UTTER disrespect with not a care in the world I draw the line.
