What initially drew Maureen Valenzuela @itzmau to the role of Tamar in Initiation?

“What drew me to the role is Tamar’s compassion and patience, and how she’s able to work with unique individuals going through a range of personal challenges.”

For Maureen, Tamar’s ability to approach others with empathy, understanding, and patience is what makes her character so compelling. At its core, Initiation explores the power of human connection, especially with those who struggle to be heard or understood.

🎟️ Catch Maureen as Tamar at the world premiere of Initiation on October 25th at the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific Film Festival! If you haven't got a ticket just yet, be sure to check out our bio. 😊

🎬 Day 2 — The Collude

Now that we've officially completed the final mix, I wanted to share a few more frame grabs from "The Colluder"

One of the biggest goals for this location started in pre-production. After scouting the conference room, I knew I wanted to expose for the windows and schedule our filming block so we wouldn't have direct sunlight pouring into the space. That gave us a much more controlled image while still preserving the natural feel of the room.

Although I gravitate toward darker imagery, I wanted the subjects to sit a couple of stops under the exterior rather than competing with it. The goal wasn't a bright, high-key corporate office—it was to make the conversation feel like it was happening in the shadows. Quiet. Controlled. Tense.

One of my favorite parts of this scene was experimenting with three-person compositions. Finding ways to frame all three characters while maintaining the power dynamics between them was a fun creative challenge and something I'll definitely continue exploring.

More from "The Colluder" coming soon.
