The pastry counter at Kensington’s Manna Bakery is lined with Palestinian- and Levantine-inspired pastries that connect owner Saif Manna with his culture. But the one specialty Manna feels closest to — the one that brings him back to his grandmother’s home in Jordan, where he spent his summers as a kid — is the za’atar manoushe.

At the link in our bio, Manna shares the stories behind the intentionally sourced ingredients he uses to replicate the flavors of his childhood and celebrate Palestinian culinary traditions.

@mannabakery_philly is my favorite pop-up bakery and today they are having their soft opening introducing their fantastic baked goods to Kensington and Fishtown. I was lucky enough to try their food from the very start, so to see them grow from a pop-up with no line, to a pop-up with lines down the block, to a brick and mortar. I am extremely proud and I wish nothing but the best for them as they open their brick and mortar. Their baked goods will knock your socks off, they use only the highest quality ingredients, really interesting flavor profiles, things you don’t see on a regular Philly bakery menu. I highly recommend you stop in, this Bakery will become one of the best bakeries in Philadelphia. #phillyfood #phillyfoodie #dessert #bakery #cheesecake

From his Temple University dorm room to a brick-and-mortar in Fishtown, we’re so thrilled to be working with wunderkind @chefsa1f on the opening of @mannabakery_philly. Saif draws inspiration from the cooking traditions of his late father and grandmothers, translating family memories into innovative Levantine and Palestinian-inspired pastries that feel both deeply personal and entirely original.

Manna Bakery officially opens its doors on Berks Street next Thursday, July 30, serving narrative-rich and picture-perfect sweet and savory bites 🧡
