Radicchio in a croquette, on the grill and in dessert? Bold Flavours at @burdockandco gave this B.C.-grown fall vegetable plenty of room to show off. 🥬

Seven chefs came together for @farmfolkcityfolk’s radicchio celebration, each taking its bitterness, colour and texture in a different direction. Here’s the lineup:

🍴 Comté-radicchio croquette from Margaux Herder @margauxherder of @chezcelinerestaurant.

🍴 Chicken thigh and tsukune from Kensaku Tanaka of @yakitori_kohna.

🍴 Yakibitashi and monaka from Akira Kishimoto @chef_akira_kishimoto of @kishimoto.restaurant.

🍴 Macaron, nougat and éclair from Andrea Carlson @chefandreacarlson of @burdockandco.

🍴 Tiramisu and choux from Adina Guest @lovesgalettes, visiting from Salt Spring Island.

🍴 Goat kebab from Tushar Tondvalkar @chefttushar of @restaurant.kavita.

🍴 Custard tart from Josh Blumenthal @clean_josh of @oxeyegaliano, visiting from Galiano Island.

Sea Cider and wines from Revelry Imports rounded out an evening celebrating B.C. growers and the chefs who give their harvest such thoughtful attention.

ICON IS… l @icondinners

A rebel.
A sound you never forget.
A childhood memory.
A beautiful madness.
The greatest.

Five icons. Five stories. Five dinners.

From Anthony Bourdain to David Bowie, Walt Disney, Salvador Dalí, and now Muhammad Ali.

What began as an idea has become something much bigger. A celebration of culture, creativity, storytelling, and the chefs who bring it all to life.

On Monday, we close our inaugural season with Muhammad Ali at The Mackenzie Room.

One final story yet to be told. See you then.

Two Chefs. One Icon.
Pop Culture. Plated.

Release: Kavita Celebrates One Year with a Taste of Life Behind the Kitchen Pass and a Reunion with Chef Mark Singson ~ Following a year of national recognition, Chef Tushar Tondvalkar celebrates the people and partnerships that shaped Kavita with a staff-meal-inspired gathering and an 11-course Indian-Filipino collaboration this November (link in bio).

One year after opening @restaurant.kavita, @chefttushar is celebrating the people who helped make the restaurant what it is today. On November 1, he and his team will welcome friends, guests and Vancouver’s hospitality community for a first-anniversary gathering inspired by the food they cook for one another, giving guests a taste of the comforting dishes usually shared behind the scenes. Then, on November 17, the celebration comes full circle when Filipino-Canadian Chef @marksingson returns for an 11-course Indian-Filipino dinner. Singson joined Tondvalkar for Kavita’s first pop-up shortly after opening, and their reunion brings two chefs with distinct culinary traditions and a shared curiosity back into the kitchen together.

The celebrations follow a year of significant recognition, with Kavita earning a 2026 MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, placing No. 96 on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list, and receiving Gold for Best Indian and Silver for Best New Restaurant at the 2026 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards. General Manager Yash Shah was also honoured with the MICHELIN Guide Vancouver Service Award.

A big week for Kavita, and a closer look at the chef behind it.

With a new Michelin Bib Gourmand and an Outstanding Service Award for general manager Yash Shah, the restaurant has plenty to celebrate. In my latest for Vancouver Is Awesome, chef Tushar Tondvalkar shares how going deeper into regional Indian cooking, one ingredient or technique at a time, is shaping his approach to B.C. ingredients.

Coming up Oct. 21: chef Tushar Shroff of Indish joins him for a five-course, family-style dinner exploring Marwari and Rajasthani cooking.

Charred Pacific Northwest octopus meets the warmth of Southern India.

Bright tomato chutney, sun-ripened Sungold tomatoes, crispy curry leaf and preserved plums bring together smoke, sweetness, and tang a meeting of coastal traditions, shaped by the land and sea.

A special evening at the MICHELIN Guide Vancouver celebration, surrounded by friends, chefs, restaurateurs and owners who shape our city’s dining scene.

Beyond the awards and recognition, nights like this are about community. Supporting one another, creating, adapting and giving Vancouver something to gather around.

I’m incredibly proud of the people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside and cheering for, from restaurants I’ve supported through pre-openings and reopenings to the iconic institutions that have helped shape our city. Seeing so many familiar faces in one room, celebrating one another’s achievements, made the evening especially meaningful.

To my kitchen family, seeing all your hard work recognized makes me so happy. My heart was racing right alongside you. I know how much goes into every service, every plate and every day it takes to get here. You deserve this moment.

And while we celebrate those recognized this year, I’m also thinking about the countless restaurants, chefs and small businesses across Vancouver doing remarkable work, deserving of their own moment in the spotlight.

This is the community I’m part of, the one I work alongside, fight for and believe in. There is so much more to Vancouver’s dining scene than any list can capture.

I’ll be here, camera in hand, continuing to tell their stories.
