What an Olympics! I feel so lucky that my girls were able to experience this thing that’s been such a big part of my life for so long.

It was a little bittersweet, though, to be on the outside looking in. But I wouldn’t change anything. Here’s a few throwbacks from 20 years ago and the first ever Olympics that I worked, Athens 2004.

A decade ago, I spent my 30th birthday in Montana with a group of my best friends. For my 40th, we did the same, minus a few, but this time with a slew of partners and kids in tow.

The Big 4-0 wasn’t something I ever really considered when I was young. Now it’s here, and I mostly feel gratitude. Gratitude for my loves, Chels & Mags, but also for this strange family I’ve made along the way. What would I ever do without them???

🩺 Post graduation plans: I'm joining a democratic group in the Los Angeles area working in a community ED. Come visit the beach!

💭 Favorite Einstein Memory: My favorite memory at Einstein is giving birth to my daughter. I had a great experience as a first-time patient, and it was super special to have a friend I made in intern year deliver my baby my third year.

🎤 Advice: Take every experience and interaction as a learning opportunity. It is such a privilege to learn from such skilled attendings and co-residents -- take this time to soak in all the knowledge you can.

Every year our holiday block gives residents one week of vacation and one week of lab competition. We get to spend the entire week doing SIM cases, low frequency high acuity procedures, US Olympics, toxicology games, cadaver lab, EMS day, residency bonding, friendly team competition and most importantly time together 💕 Every year we have a theme and this year was Superhero themed. The team names, slogans, and costumes were all amazing! A very special thanks to Dr. Parson for organizing this every year, the amazing attendings, SIM faculty, and everyone else who make lab week so special! #rsafuelbox @aaemrsa
