to my dearest mala 📿 in heaven, 🌈🌁✨ (i have thousands of photos & videos of you but IG only lets me post 10 😭) i adopted you & your sister, butter, when i was 22 & and just graduated college. my mom, your grandma, had saved you & your siblings & your mom & dad (toa & frida) from an abandoned church ⛪️ in south central LA. it took her 3 weeks to catch you all with the help of James black. everyone thought i was completely insane for adopting two puppies immediately out of college. it was sort of unheard of during that time to do something like that but i had at first committed to keeping butter 🧈 but then while i was fostering you trying to find you a home, i completely fell in love with you & your beautiful spirit. you also both were so attached as sisters, i just knew i couldn’t give you to someone else. so i suddenly had two little 8 week old puppies to train & raise as my own. & when i commit, i commit. it was very hard in many ways having such a huge responsibility at that age.. but you were always such good girls for me. i am so grateful for everything you taught me & all of the love you gave me. you kept me safe & you protected me always, you held me through my biggest heartbreaks & my most triumphant moments. 💔❤️‍🩹 you never ever ran away off leash. you were always there for a cuddle & a belly rub. you were the perfect “sheriff” 🚓 always teaching puppies how to behave & making sure no other big dogs hurt little dogs in your presence. ♥️ i loved you so so so much… even during the times it felt so difficult.. like at 2 years old when BOTH you & butter consecutively tore your first ACLs & both needed surgery within a year of each other to repair them. & then when you both tore your OTHER ACLs consecutively & both had to have surgery for those as well. one of the hardest things i have ever done was successfully rehabilitating two young, insanely energetic dogs with 4 brand new bionic knees that cost a casual $12k to repair. 😂 i felt so proud of myself & my beloved Taylo who helped me all along the way as the most dutiful dog dad & boyfriend turned Husbii.
