@cheridesailly has been documenting Brisbane’s street art scene for the past decade, focusing her lens on the artists behind the work. Recently, some of her photos were acquired by the State Library of Queensland as part of Brisbane’s street art history. She recently shared a bunch of these images with me, and I was blown away by how much she had captured — including pieces I never managed to photograph properly myself. Here are a few of my favourites.

Some studio shots from @cheridesailly

Always fun having a guest in the studio, particularly one who loves documenting artists as much as Cheri,

600+ of her photographs documenting mural artists in Queensland were recently acquired by the State Library

Cheri has captured some amazing moments in Australian art, it’s a pleasure calling her a friend and having my process recorded by her 📸

This one is a work in progress of the ‘Broken bouquet’

This is our painting of a blue bonnet parrot 🦜 at the community centre in Thargomindah. Picture 2 is Steve handing a landscape painting to Wendy and Jack who we met while out there. Staying at the explorers caravan park in town we met so many people on outback adventures. One afternoon after a big days painting we returned to the campsite and had a brief sit down before getting into cooking our dinner. We must of looked particularly haggard as Wendy took pity on us saying “surely you don’t have to cook for yourself now”. We were actually pretty happy to do so, but the following night the couple cooked up a delicious Indian banquet for us! Following this we had a bunch of meals made, leaving us with left overs for the rest of the week! What a legendary couple! Adding to a long list of fond memories from our time in the bulloo shire! Thanks once again @cheridesailly for the reference photo! #brightsiders#thargomindah#stevenfalco#jordanbruce#bluebonnet#parrot#cheridesailly#wendy#jack#urbanart#australia#outbackaustralia#outbackqueensland#native#australiana#australianartist#visitqueensland#mural#streetart#contemporaryart#spraypaintart
