Day 1-2: I had such a wonderful time being part of the @apiahip 2026 National Forum here in Colorado! ❤️

More than 250 attendees came together for four days of workshops, tours, and conversations focused on preserving Asian and Pacific Islander American history and the places that tell our stories.

I was especially honored to present alongside @capu_2021 Joie and @historycolorado Yadira about Big Dreams in Little Saigon and share the story of our Little Saigon community and Far East Center.

It was so meaningful to see our community included in a national conversation about historic preservation and why protecting these places matters for future generations.

So grateful to @apiahip and everyone who helped bring this incredible forum to Colorado. ❤️

Team CAPU is coming in strong at @apiahip this week! We’re so excited to co-host this national convening, and share with Asian & Pacific Islander historical preservationists across the country the amazing things we got going on here. Here are just some of CAPU’s team, board, and volunteers that are presenting this week.

We are also so grateful that we were able to help some of our amazing community partners put together panels to share their work. It’s not everyday that national Asian Pacific Islander convenings happen in Colorado, but though our numbers may be lower, our impact is clear.

A look back at last weekend’s Designing Denver’s Chinatown: Community Vision Workshop. We had an incredible time hearing your ideas for what to see, do, and feel in a future reactivated Chinatown alley. Most importantly, we loved meeting so many people who care about amplifying this history and building a diverse downtown Denver.

This was an opportunity to show stakeholders, partners, and potential founders there is an appetite for this project. And if you missed the workshop but want to show your support, you can still let us know what your vision for a reactivated Chinatown alley. Modern or traditional? Night markets or family programs? Fill out the Community Input Survey at the 🔗 in our bio or tinyurl.com/DenverChinatownSurvey

Survey open until August 31! And stay tuned for a report of findings from the workshop and survey coming soon. Remember the proverb, “be not afraid of going slow, but of not going at all.” We are excited to keep moving forward this vision together with you. #aanhpi #colorado #chinatown

*Update: this exhibit is closed at Westminster Library and will travel to Broomfield Library from Sept 1 - Nov 24*

On view at Westminster Public Library! “Inherited Stories: Contemporary Voices” is an art exhibit highlighting continuity and transformation of the Hmong community. The exhibit is based on oral histories from Hmong people in the Denver metro area. Each oral history is interpreted by artists into creative pieces inspired by traditional story cloths.

Learn more about the Hmong American community in Colorado by visiting the exhibit and reflect on the stories we inherit, the stories we create, and how we weave history together.

Located at Westminster Public Library in the first floor puzzle atrium. Exhibit text available in English, Spanish, and Hmong.

Special thanks to @sophialuc.y @capu_2021 @hmaacofficial @westminster.colorado @acccolorado and the artists + oral historians. This exhibit would not be possible without you!

Go out from the Roundup and turn the world around 🌎⛺️

Had the absolute best time playing camp counselor at @roundupriverranch 💛 From skits, hair braiding, candle light chats, tutus, scavenger hunts and lots of dance moves. #juniperforlife

There’s nothing predictable about being a surprise proposal photographer—and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting. One day I’m hiking up a mountain, the next I’m blending into a crowded park or pretending to be a tourist at some random overlook. Every location feels a little unexpected, a little chaotic… but that’s where the magic happens. You’re constantly adapting, thinking on your feet, and waiting for that one moment you only get once. It’s a mix of pressure, adrenaline, and a lot of focus-- but it makes the work really rewarding.

Colorado Dragon Boat Film Fest Recap! We had an incredible weekend with @codragonboat at @thedenverfilm Sie FilmCenter 🎞️ What’s on our highlight reel?

Seeing our partners from the “Adoptees in Dialogue” project on the big screen during the short film showcase. ❤️

Watching folks experience our Denver’s Chinatown past + future virtual reality pop up for the first time. So cool seeing the past come to life through animated historic photos from descendant families and dreaming of what’s next. 💭

Laughing and crying through films created by our community, snacking to our hearts content, and seeing some truly fire fits!! 🥟🪭🍡

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend possible for reminding us how STRONG and CREATIVE our community is when threads of connection bring us together. 🫶

This year was one for the books! I love this little tradition of building cheap gingerbread houses. I’ve been doing this with my family since I was kid and it has been an absolute delight to share it with my chosen family 🥹

Fan favorite was Kēnya’s Stardew Valley Farm 🐓
Honorable mention was Brianna’s Pimp My Ride 🐟

🥉 Harlan’s religious trauma nightmare
🥈 Jasmine & Nick’s Atlantis Pagoda
🥇 Sarah’s rendition of Demi & Jax’s future home

This gathering of friends meant so much to me. It was a beautiful night and a core memory. Love yall forever! Start prepping for next year
