❤️ SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TRADERS! ❤️

What a lush Sunday at Newcastle Quayside Market catching up with some trader friends!

There’s something special about our local markets. The friendly faces, the conversations, the independent makers and the genuine passion behind every stall.

It’s been a challenging year for so many of us, and as someone who runs an independent business, I understand just how important local support really is.

A massive shout-out to these wonderful traders! 👇

Behind every one of these businesses is someone working incredibly hard, often through difficult times, to make a living doing something they love.

Every purchase matters. Every recommendation helps. Even a simple share can introduce a small business to its next customer.

We have some incredibly talented, hardworking traders here in the North East. Let’s continue showing them the love they deserve! ❤️

👇 Tag your favourite local business and give them some well-deserved exposure!

The mighty Murphy strutted his stuff yesterday in #keswick. Lots of people saying how handsome he is (we know!) and he managed to charm @cherrytreepreserves into giving him a few free cheese 🧀 samples😂

A look at some of our favourite artisan food and drink from Abbfest 2026.

As proud sponsors, we’re always keen to champion the incredible local businesses who help make this volunteer‑run festival so special. Abbfest raises vital funds for local charities while bringing people together through entertainment, food, drink and family activities.

Shout‑out to this year’s brilliant makers:

Take me back to the Melplash food hall 😍

I picked the wrong day to go through my camera roll… now I’m craving allllll the foods, it’s Sunday and I have no steam to go into town!

This year I got to attend the Melplash show for the first time. As a child growing up in a small town on Vancouver Island, our local fall fair was something we looked forward to at the end of every Summer. The show ground would transform into a bustling festival of local vendors, makers and fun fair activities. It was a gated, ticketed event that was safe enough for us kids to run around without supervision. A first taste of independence, if you will. I loved getting to wander through the livestock cages. The Melplash show brought me straight back to those days, in the best way!

The sheer size of the show was overwhelming. It was so much bigger than I had anticipated! Every time I thought I had seen everything, I turned a corner and another tent/field/vendor row would appear. My favourite place inside the gates?

Aside from the adorable livestock (there will be a highlight reel of sheepy faces eventually), THE FOOD HALL!

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of local food producers, and this food hall did not disappoint. I had brought my camera with me to the show in hopes of grabbing a few shots, but did not anticipate just how packed that food hall would be. The problem? I hadn’t brought any wide-angle lenses!

But when problems present themselves to stubborn people: creative solutions are found.

Instead of admitting defeat and keeping my camera packed away, I decided to work with the restrictions I had placed on myself. This video is a combination of my favourite moments that I managed to capture inside the food tent - not an easy task when someone walks infront of your shot every couple of seconds.

Featuring some of my favourite local food and drinks vendors:

P.s. Thank you for the invite to the show Lauren, I’m so glad I got to experience it and that we got to hang out!
