2022 was the year of darkness, truth, determination, resilience, support.

2023 will be the year of light, victory, peace, creativity, construction, hope.

We’ll leave our resolutions for another post… Here’s some shit we did in 2022 that we’re proud of and grateful for. All in service of our people, our culture, our traditions, our story, our future.

✍️Wrote/performed original music/score for @belarusfreetheatre ’s dystopian Dogs of Europe in London, Luxembourg and Paris.

💰Raised half a million dollars through various fundraising efforts including our ONLY FARE campaign with the incredible @peter_andrew_lusztyk (merch still available)

✈️Two amazing Toronto shows with @secondfrontua to raise money to be hand delivered to our troops— 360 “shelter our sky” fundraiser at @lhimmersive and “4U” party with @dariakolomiec_ at @theelmocambo

🎫Booked small festival tour for @go_a_band in Canadian mainstream market and recorded together (stay tuned)

🌍Toured Baltic countries and witnessed the MASSIVE support for Ukraine

🇪🇪Showcased at @tallinnmusicweek , which led to…

🇨🇿 @colours_cz main stage show before @martingarrix to a 60k audience

🇵🇹@womex_theworldmusicexpo showcase in Lisbon (that we’ve been working towards for a decade). The only Ukrainian band…. Chosen by the CANADIAN industry (massive respect and gratitude to @mundialmontreal @globaltoronto @indigenousmusicsummit )

🎥First million view video (not to mention two more official video releases— what a team in @dmitryneche and @balkanada )

🎧New album release called one of the most important albums of the year by @slukh.media.eng (tagging shoutouts)

🎤Opened historic concert at @carnegiehall to celebrate Carol of the Bells

🤘Lit up @brooklynbowl with @gogolbordello

🇺🇦Went to the front. Visited brother @max_bortnyk . Understood the meaning of “home” after travelling 2 days via plane, train, foot, car, and convoy through seemingly endless borders and block posts to an abandoned gas station of a recently reclaimed (and hard fought) town outside of Irpin and sat down to eat cake together.

@sofyushka_sofi @chertkova @yurasolodzhuk ❤️‍🔥

Hard to think about anything other than this morning as we leave our beloved Kyiv en route to Krakow.

But our time on the front, in the shelters, on the stage and on the streets during one of the country’s most tumultuous times since the beginning of the war gave us confidence, pride, and a validated sense of purpose as we enter into the winter months and the onslaught continues.

And yesterday’s show at @barmandictat : HOLY SHIT. It felt like a hug. One long 75-minute hug. The kind where you squeeze extra tight and don’t want to let go. The kind you breathe in and through, forgetting everything else, I’d only for the duration of that hug. The kind that gives you strength to go on…

So: see you tomorrow at @kawiarnio_ksiegarnia where we will hug and raise our fists ✊together with 🇵🇱 one more time before going back to 🇨🇦. And of course we’ll raise 💵 for our army too— there is no shortage of need.
