A week ago, I had the privilege of anchoring the February edition of the Zenith SME Learning Series, and it was one of those moments that remind you why you do what you do.
When I logged onto the session and saw participants joining from different corners of the country, something clicked. There’s a special kind of energy that comes from entrepreneurs gathering to learn, to grow, and to ask the hard questions about building sustainable businesses in Nigeria. And I felt honored to be at the center of that conversation.
Our theme, “The Bankable SME: Structuring Your Business for Sustainable Financing in Nigeria,” is one that hits home for so many business owners. Access to funding isn’t just a buzzword, for many SMEs, it’s the thin line between survival and expansion, between potential and breakthrough.
As I moderated the discussion, guided the Q&A, and watched the chat come alive with insights and reflections, I found myself inspired. Inspired by the SMEs hungry for knowledge. Inspired by the clarity our speakers brought. Inspired by the community Zenith Bank continues to build — one webinar at a time.
What stood out most for me was this:
Being “bankable” is not just about needing money. It’s about being prepared for opportunity.
Prepared in your structure, your numbers, your governance, your discipline, and your vision.
By the time we wrapped up, I felt grateful — grateful for the impact, grateful for the engagement, and grateful to play a part in equipping businesses with the tools to thrive.
To everyone who joined, engaged, shared the stream, asked questions, or even watched quietly in the background… thank you. You made the session what it was.
A big thank you to my team, the Retail Banking Group for the opportunity and to @chi_alukaa and the SME team for the continuous support 😘

Here’s to more learning, more clarity, and more bankable SMEs across Nigeria.

What’s up?

I’m sure many of us are familiar with the book by DJ Cuppy’s daddy- Femi Otedola. I read it a while ago and my body has been pinching me to share some business tips I learnt from the book.

If you scroll through previous posts, you’ll see I advise small businesses owners to observe what the big guys are doing in/ for their businesses and implement same. I’ve saved you the stress of reading and shared some 😁

Oya, tell me “thank you”😌

Fun tip. I left the best/ most important for the last😜. Scroll to find out and tell me which one resonates most with you.

For the Days You Don’t Feel Like Going On…

Let’s be honest, some days just weigh heavy.
You wake up tired, unmotivated, and everything feels like it’s moving too slow.

But here’s the truth:
You’re not doing it for them. You’re doing it for you. 💪

Because you deserve the peace you’re working towards.
You deserve the life you’re building.
And you deserve every good thing this world has to offer, you just have to keep going.

Even if it’s one small step today.
Even if it’s not perfect.
Progress is still progress.

So take a deep breath, pick yourself up, and remind yourself.
You’re becoming someone your future self will thank you for. 🌱

Digital financial tools have the power to transform lives, especially for women who often face barriers to accessing essential services like credit, savings, and payments.

Statistics show that women with access to digital financial services are 20% more likely to start a business and 30% more likely to save regularly compared to those without access. These tools are essential for managing finances, growing businesses, and achieving economic independence.

At SIDFS, we are committed to bridging the financial inclusion gap through a range of comprehensive initiatives. Our evidence-based research examines challenges across supply-side, demand-side, and policy dimensions, helping ecosystem actors develop practical solutions to overcome barriers to financial inclusion. Additionally, we empower stakeholders, including regulators and financial service providers, by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to sustainably serve excluded populations.

Partnering with SIDFS means joining a vital initiative that promotes economic empowerment and fosters a more inclusive financial system.

Let’s collaborate to create lasting change. Contact us today to explore partnership opportunities and help build a more equitable financial future
