Now that I’ve had a few days to digest Inferno Fest, this is my objective review of the event beyond “OMG SUGOI SO COOL”. @infernofest.intl
-
What I loved:
-
1️⃣ The venue gave the perfect “Hazbin Hotel” vibes. (Sorry, Helluva fans.)
-
2️⃣ The merch was diverse enough that I didn’t feel like I just walked past twenty stalls selling the same thing. Many cons are Funko Pops galore in the UK.
-
3️⃣ This was the best schedule I’ve ever seen at a UK con.
-
Each day had a choice of panels & activities to do beyond just looking at stalls. I attended most of them & found fun & perfectly on theme, contributing to creating a cohesive & immersive atmosphere.
-
4️⃣ The character actors were on point.
-
@nko.enne made a reel about the loss of the “play” part of cosplay in the last decade or so, which I agree with.
-
I was delighted that the staff made an effort to stay in character, which is my favourite part of cosplay.
-
This put many attendees in the mood to do the same, so I had a fun time impersonating Alastor for two days straight.
-
5️⃣ I applied to give a presentation about nutrition, which had been a dream of mine for a long time (presenting to other nerds? Hell yeah) & had a blast. I was also asked to apply again, so clearly I did something right.

What I didn’t love:
-
1️⃣ I purchased Nepo Baby or VIP tickets & didn’t feel like I got much more out of them than people who had standard tickets.
-
But I would happily pay the standard ticket for this event. Totally worth it.
-
I’d also still pay extra for VIP tickets, but this year I thought the extra was too much relative to the benefits.
-
2️⃣ It would have been great to have gaps in the schedule around meal times.
-
On Saturday especially, I had to miss out on one event I was interested in because it was either that or I wouldn’t have dinner, because I didn’t want to skip on the evening burlesque show & homecoming dance (both incredible).
-
3️⃣ There was no cloakroom for all attendees.
-
I was allowed to leave my belongings in the VIP room, but
