A little BTS of taking a wedding across the world. ✈️

A destination wedding starts long before the big day.

For this celebration in Penang, Malaysia, we flew from Toronto to immerse ourselves in the destination, meet local vendors, understand the logistics, and bring every detail home to start planning.

Then, three months later, we flew back — this time to bring it all to life.

From venue setup and custom linens to rehearsals, florals, timelines, and the final button on the gown — we were there for every detail.

Because destination planning isn’t just about coordinating from afar.
It’s about showing up, knowing every detail, and making the vision happen.

Toronto → Penang. Thousands of miles, one unforgettable celebration. 🤍

This was me a few days after wrapping up a big wedding in Malaysia

Before this came more than 30 hours of travel, barely any proper sleep, jet lag, and two intense days of work back to back.

Sometimes I feel like my life is always a little like this.

When I work, I’m fully in it, long days, high pressure, endless problem-solving, and sometimes months of barely slowing down. And when I finally get a few days to travel, maybe only a handful of days in an entire year, I really want to be fully there too.

I want to dress up.
I want to take photos.
I want to see places I’ve never seen before.
I want to capture the moments that have absolutely nothing to do with productivity.

For a long time, I wondered which one was the “real” me.

The wedding designer dressed in black, phone in hand, solving problems all day?

Or the girl on vacation who wants to forget about everything, dress beautifully and wander around with nowhere to be?

Recently I read something that stayed with me:True beauty has no single form.

At work, I can be strong, rational and decisive.
With the people I love, I can be soft and playful.
On my own, I can still be the girl who loves beautiful clothes, new places and little moments of wonder.

Every version is me.And no single version defines all of me.

I’m actually very grateful for the life my work has given me. It hasn’t taken life away from me in many ways, it has given me the ability to experience more of it, and to discover more layers of who I am.

So these days, I’m trying not to ask myself who I’m “supposed” to be.

When it’s time to work, I work hard. When it’s time to play, I play fully. When it’s time to love, I love deeply.

Life was never meant to have only one version of us.

Thank you @chibiwon for seeing the beauty in me in your own way, understanding exactly what I wanted, and bringing every vision I had to life. So grateful for this whole creative process with you.
