We want to thank everyone for their contribution to the Feed a soul initiative for 2020.
We set a goal to feed over 600 people and were able to feed 1000 people in 3 locations. The three locations were Jakande, Obalende and Ebute Metta.

Looking back, 2020 was a tough year and we are more than happy that with your help we were able to put smiles on a thousand faces.

Though service this year was different as a result of the pandemic, we are incredibly grateful for those who, despite all odds, volunteered their time and effort. @masterdaniel_ @kennedyekezie @chidinma_chioke @oderaa @lance_chukujama @timifasehun @sunmimadeo @moradesola

Our fundraising efforts were met with great reception and we were able to raise more than we needed. At the end of the day, we raised $7420.
We plan to use the rest of the funds towards a service day during the Easter holiday and we will keep you updated with the final plans.

Again, thank you so much for being a partner and we hope you continue to be a part of this great cause.

Happy new year and hope this new year brings you unexpected blessings like we experienced fundraising for 2020.

We will be posting pictures from our service day soon!

Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Drinks: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Aesthetic: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Date Night Approved: ☑️

Food: @chidinma_chioke and I opted to try the chef’s tasting menu! We tried one thing from each section of the menu. Special shout out to the tuna carpaccio 😋

Drinks: Drinks were good overall! They are very unique, so there is a shorter selection of cocktails so look ahead to see if you’d like them 🍸

Aesthetic: We LOVED it! It had an older feel with the interior design. We were sat at a booth, and it was so comfortable. 10/10

Service: Our server was very attentive. The manager that night came over multiple times to check on us and the other parties.

Date Night Approved: Yes yes yes! They even have happy hour from 4-7 with a great food selection and drinks of the day!

E-Board Brunch ✨

(Read Caption below)

While the NABA E-Board went to brunch, we were told that a Black couple eating their before us, paid for our entire meal. Their generosity and act of kindness warmed our hearts and inspired us to pass it on and pay for another strangers meal✨ pass it forward ✨ #NABA

"As morally conscious and responsible members of any society, I believe that our most fundamental duty is to learn how to communicate with and understand the perspectives of people that are different from us within our society. Personally, the most consistent and urgent question that I ask myself is, ‘how do I strive for the common good?’ In order to achieve this, it is necessary to do the work to understand what that means within the context of every person's life considering race, nationality, sexual orientation, class, gender, sex etc. IGR gave me the
opportunity to do this.

In my sophomore year, I took the Sexual Orientation IGR. Identifying as a straight cis-gendered woman and moving from Nigeria (which is a very heteronormative and homophobic environment) to the US for college, I had 0 knowledge or understanding of the LGBTQ+ community. Because I held several important leadership roles on campus, I thought it essential to participate in an IGR so that I could have a safe space to learn and understand how to be an ally. My experience in this IGR really shaped the rest of my college experience.

This class truly helped me unlearn a lot of the terrible (and unconscious biases) that I had inherited from the environment that I grew up in. My biggest takeaways from this class:
- The fight for LGBTQ+ rights and dignity is a struggle for fundamental human rights and dignity and if you stay silent in the face of injustice then you too are complicit.
- Allyship is a continuous journey. It does not end and you cannot pick and choose when to be an ally. Take the time to learn and listen and stand up for your LGBTQ+ friends, coworkers, teammates, colleagues, strangers, etc. even when they are not in the room and nobody is watching.

IGR is an essential course that I think everyone needs to take."

Thank you @villanovatv for allowing Villanova’s Chapter of The National Association of Black Accountants to use our voice to spread awareness and promote dialogue on topics like racial inequality, diversity and inclusion, and being a student of color in VSB.

We hope everyone can take the time and watch. Link in our Bio.
