POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I’ve been working on this song on and off ever since Renée Good was murdered by ICE in January. I finally finished writing it thanks in large part to the influence of “Letters from an American,” the excellent writings of historian @heathercoxrichardson, which have laid bare the corruption, cruelty, and historical incompetence of both Trump administrations. Her meticulously sourced and historically framed daily wrap-ups and/or look-backs have been a comfort and a frequent inspiration for me to get more involved in the politics of American life – including writing this tune, “A Letter from an American.” (A proper recording with some rowdy friends is in the works.) The president and his lapdogs of the 119th are certainly not finished, and all evidence points to Congress continuing to roll over and let Trump do whatever he wishes, including interfering with any results he doesn’t like during the upcoming midterms. This prospect is chilling, and we should all make as much noise as we can to make it impossible for our elected reps to ignore our votes. Flood socials with election info (click linktree in bio for a handful of resource links), and with messages to this Congress that they are on the wrong side of history. (I’m going to use the downloadable “We’re going to tell your grandkids what you have done” graphics in posts, postcards, and posters at the Flickr link in the linktree in bio. Feel free to steal!) Locally, contact District 1 Congressman James Gallagher, and let him know we are all watching him. Phone: (530) 343-1000; email (click linktree in bio for link to submission form).
