Salute to New York City. 🗽🖤

Today, millions of people from every borough, every background, and every walk of life moved as one.

The championship was the excuse. 🏆

The people were the story.

A reminder that collective energy is real.

Felt fitting to bring out our latest @TheSystemDontWork piece front and center, “The New Statue of Liberty.” 🗽✊🏾🗽

Because maybe freedom was never meant to be a monument…

Maybe it was always us.

And if we can gather like this for a game, imagine what we could build if we gathered like this for something even bigger.

There’s more of us than them. ⚠️🗽

🗽 New Yorkers, tap in. S/o to everybody we met today in the madness. If you were out there today or NYC has ever been home, drop a 🗽 below. And if you see yourself (or somebody you know), tag ’em. 👀

🤔 The more things change, the more things stay the same. 😒
16 years ago on this day there was a general feeling of “optimism” when the 45th President of United States of America, a black man named Barack Obama, was elected the night before.
I remember the energy of that time and how excited everyone was for this “change” that was promised… 16 years later, here we are.
Since that time there’s been 8 years of Obama, then the 4 year presidency of the “scary” MAGA man Donald Trump, then there was another little wave of “optimism” when Barack’s vice president Joe Biden got elected president in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic with the backdrop of the George Floyd protests (remember the Kamala phone call meme “Joe, We did it” 🫤)… and now with the re-election of Trump we’re back to “Make America Great Again” season.
What does all this mean?

AMERICA IS AMERIKKKA 🔥🇺🇸🔥

The faces change the program is still the same. I’m not gonna get into all the nooks right now because the proof is in the pudding ( and there’s only so many characters you can write on an IG caption)

Instead I’ll take it back again to 2008.
During the summer leading up to that Obama election, me and my A-Alikes team shot a full length documentary called “The Ballot or the Bullet” about that election season, the energy of that time and the thoughts & feelings of my comrades and our local community in Brooklyn.
We’ve since screened this film at countless universities and community spaces but never released it to the public.

Last night, as a time capsule and a reminder of where we’ve been & how far we have to go I posted the documentary on YouTube for free for anyone interested in checking it out.(link in bio) 🎥📲
It’ll be up for a few days and then we’ll be back to screening it at colleges and community spaces, with Q&A’s after to allow space for dialogue and discourse that hopefully will lead to a real and lasting revolutionary change.

For all my people disheartened, disappointed or angry at last night’s election results just know that the real work happens before and after the election.
Keep going, keep growing and keep the main thing the main thing.
‘ Til We Free. ✊🏾

❤️🖤💚 Yesterday was the late great Fred Hampton Sr.’s Bornday. If you’ve seen the movie #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah you know some of the story but it is a movie and obviously there’s so much more. What this man meant to not only the Black Community but Poor & Working Class peoples in America & worldwide can not be measured. A shining example of leadership, clarity, compassion & purpose. If “to struggle for the people” was a person it would be Fred. 🫡 Salute🫡

❤️🖤💚 From Wikapedia Fredrick Allen Hampton Sr. (August 30, 1948 – December 4, 1969) was an American activist. He came to prominence in his late teens and early 20s in Chicago as deputy chairman of the national Black Panther Party and chair of the Illinois chapter. As a progressive African American, he founded the anti-racist, anti-classist Rainbow Coalition,[4] a prominent multicultural political organization that initially included the Black Panthers, Young Patriots (which organized poor whites), and the Young Lords (which organized Hispanics), and an alliance among major Chicago street gangs to help them end infighting and work for social change. A Marxist–Leninist,[5] Hampton considered fascism the greatest threat, saying “nothing is more important than stopping fascism, because fascism will stop us all.
