Such a productive day today at Esholt. We had 7 volunteers attending, so got stuck into to some heavier work. We dodged a couple of showers & did some perennial kale cuttings in the greenhouse.
Thanks everyone for all your help today!!

The volunteers at Esholt know my strange requests 😂 lots of salvaged Dahlia flowers heads needed to be put out to dry on racks. Donated from the Bradford Flower Carpet installation.
They did a wonderful job and hoping when they are completely dry I can store them for future dyeing projects.
Also lots of hop sniffing, a new volunteer, grass cutting and pruning today.
Thanks you wonderful lot 😘

What an absolutely scorcher of a day today!
New paths with cardboard & woodchip, lifting & dividing plants, starting a new deadhedge, potting on perennials that have self seeded, harvesting perennial kale, weeding and dried flower arranging. Thank you for everyone's help today 🙏 #volunteertuesdays #esholtkitchengarden #communitygardening #spongetreeesholt #permaculturegarden

It's not all back breaking work at the kitchen garden, sometimes we have to enjoy those slower paced fiddly jobs. Like hanging up dried flowers, stripping Rosemary leaves from their stems, harvesting and sorting out old willow canes.

We dodged the showers a little bit today at Esholt but in between we harvested perennial kale, chard, cornus mas berries, tomatoes, apples, pumpkins, rosemary and lots of hops.
The hops are dried and then passed onto a friend who makes a wonderful home brew with them.
We also did hedgecutting, weeding, seed sowing and pruning.

Finally got to Bridgewater today and the rain held off. A wonderful place, great planting and great to see lots of food, herbs and seed heads been left for the wildlife.
I may have spent some money at the garden centre 😳 🤔 thanks for the ride out Chips!!
