Some places are too beautiful to be forgotten 🖤

Hidden on Chicago’s South Side, at 1645 E. 79th Street, stands the breathtaking Avalon Regal Theater
- a nearly 100-year-old architectural masterpiece that opened in 1927.

Designed by John Eberson, this extraordinary theater is filled with Moorish-inspired arches, intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and details that make you stop and stare.

Its history is just as remarkable as its architecture. The Regal name carries a legendary musical legacy, connected to artists such as Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, and countless others.

Walking through this place was both magical and heartbreaking.

The walls are deteriorating. Paint is peeling. Parts of this magnificent building are crumbling. And yet, somehow, it hasn't lost its soul.

As someone who loves art, architecture, photography, and the stories hidden within old buildings, I couldn't help but imagine what this place once looked like in all its glory.

Even Prince made a little appearance in my photographs 💜🎶

What makes this story even more special is that there are plans to bring this historic theater back to life.

I truly hope that one day its doors will open again, its lights will shine, and future generations will experience the magic that still lives within these walls.

Because history like this deserves to be preserved, not forgotten.

Vintage sci-fi postcards from Chicago. Deep blues, a little film grain, and architecture that looks like it belongs in another century’s vision of the future.

Which one would you send as a postcard?

An unusually warm October day in Chicago. ☀️

I wanted to capture some of that warmth in these edits, from the golden light hitting the buildings to the softer tones and shadows throughout downtown.

Which frame is your favorite?

How can you not love that Chicago skyline? 🏙️

Share this with someone you’d want to take a Chicago River architecture boat tour with! 🚤

Between the towering skyscrapers, historic architecture, and views from the water, the Chicago River offers some of the best perspectives of the city. It’s one of my favorite ways to photograph downtown Chicago.
