Seeing The Notebook at the stunning James M. Nederlander Theatre was so special! I have always loved the movie, and now I love the musical too.😍 It made me laugh, brought tears to my eyes, inspired me, and was exceptionally well done! The Notebook has lived in our hearts for quite some time. The Enduring Power of Love on full display….allowed us to believe. 🫶🏿 The Idea of a Musical Production just was not on our Bingo Card. But there were people that we LOVE cast & that peaked our interest. This Show is Gorgeous & a Classic in EVERY way!! The last show of our 25/26 subscription season at Ensemble Arts Philly was Fantastic!!

Ms @sharoncatherinebrown , Ms Alysha & Ms Chloe filled our cups with stunning performances of Allie. 🫶🏿🫶🏾🫶🏿. Alyshia performance of ‘My Days’… my goodness, loved. 🐝🫶🏿 Sharon gave us love, strength & possibility in every moment. Bravo👏🏽👏🏽 Noah is That Man!! Kyle, Ken & Beau stole our hearts. Beau’s voice is velvet. 🫰🏽🫰🏿🫰🏽 Kyle is just a Dream. Great ensemble!! Anne, Jerome, Rayna, Sarah, Jordi, Grace & Shari yessssss!!!!🔥🔥 🔥

Best cry of the YEAR 😭 I didn’t expect this show to hit so hard but worth every tear.

Confession: I’ve seen The Notebook movie over 30 times. It’s one of my fav movies of all time. It’s for that reason I didn’t know what to make of a stage adaption.

You might think it would be automatic that I would want to run out and see it on the stage. But I wasn’t sure how it would translate. Also, I knew the tissues would be out and sometimes it’s weird to cry around lots of people in public.

So I almost didn’t go. I didn’t want to risk loosing everything I love about this story.

A week ago I met the actors playing Noah and Ally and we had a little theater date in @loveparkphilly and it changed my mind.

I went, but I was still apprehensive. I’m so glad I did. It might be one of my fav musicals of all time.

Watching it on stage as the 3 couples move in and out of the story over years was absolutely brilliant. The vocals were absolutely soaring and breathtaking.

There was an amazing set and special effects - and yes, the rain scene was truly epic.

But the reason you come for the show is the story and the emotions and the truly fantastic acting.

And yes, there is something about crying in public that’s actually healing, especially with thousands of your favorite Philadelphians surrounding you all feeling the same thing.

They say that you know a show is truly great by how fast the audience rises for the standing ovation and how thundering the clapping is.

But.. You really know how a show is when the clapping quiets down and you get to hear the chatter and see the energy in the room when everyone’s leaving.

Some shows everyone’s trying to jump in the aisle, call their Uber and get the heck out.

But after this show, everybody walked a little slower, everybody was talking to each other, smiling, hugging, nobody seemed to be in a rush.

Watching everybody go down the steps of the Academy of Music and head towards City Hall it looked like everyone knew each other. And had for years. That’s a good show.

The Notebook in Philly through Aug 2nd. Don’t miss it. It’s beautiful. 🫶
