Last night we celebrated our 20th birthday in our hometown Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington.

From our first workroom in the Trades Hall, to pop up sales before we opened the store, this city has been the backdrop - an integral part of the journey.

Thank you Wellington for giving us a place to grow, question and create for the last 20 years.

CLOSET CONFIDENTIALS | Ask @chloechill to describe her style and the answer comes easy, cute, colourful, comfortable. But behind those three words are years spent learning exactly who she is. Known for a wardrobe as bright and happy as her personality, Hill has traded fashion week front rows and Ubers for days spent running around town and in the garden, and her style has followed suit, more knitwear and more flat shoes. The instincts haven’t changed, just where she’s pointing them.

Among her most treasured pieces, a beaded Prada cardigan she’d rescue first in a fire, Deadly Ponies sneakers earning their place through sheer daily rotation, and a wide-shouldered Miu Miu coat that’s ridden the Paris Metro and weathered New York snow, bought on a whim in Sydney and worn for years since.

We’re immensely proud to share the moment marking success in re-establishing a population of wild kiwi on the hills surrounding our capital city.

This is a milestone a decade in the making. A result of epic collective effort from community, iwi, landowners, civic and sanctuary partners. Half a million trap checks worth of Predator Free and rewilding mahi. 5,300 traps across 24,000ha of farms, forestry, city suburbs, and power infrastructure.

10 years ago the thought of a (rapidly growing) population of 300+ kiwi roaming Wellington’s backyard would’ve been near unimaginable. Now it’s a reality.

Meanwhile: the work continues to ensure that we lay out the welcome mat for Pōneke’s homecoming kiwi (and further taonga species). Onwards.
