For most of human history, a person’s information environment was relatively small and local. You knew what was happening in your family, village, town, or community. Even after newspapers, radio, and television emerged, information was still largely filtered by time and geography. You couldn’t receive thousands of emotionally charged events from around the entire world every day.

The result can be something like psychological information overload. We may intellectually understand that a violent event occurred on the other side of the world, but emotionally, our brains can react as though danger is constantly surrounding us.

Social media, in the form it currently exists, makes the problem worse because it does not simply give us information. It often gives us the information most likely to make us react anger, fear, outrage, envy, shock, or anxiety. Those emotions tend to hold attention. 😐😬🫪😵‍💫🫨😬🫠 😐😬🫪😵‍💫🫨😬🫠😐😬🫪😵‍💫🫨😬🫠😡😱😠😡😤😨

Went to Chicago at the end of June to be a part of @itskrista Fully Expressed experience.

Part of me is always searching for expanders, people who can fan the vast flame within me. Finding like minded women can be one of the biggest challenges we face in life. Some might say it’s a speed bump we face when we hit a certain age, go through certain life changes or something we go through when we outgrow current connections. I think the reality is that every step of the way through any connections we achieve in life, there’s always still a glimmer of loneliness.

Over the last couple of years I have shed many friendships that were no longer serving me in good and light, and it has been one of the most painful experiences of my adulthood.

Through trying to connect with others and put myself out there, I realized one really strong component of this all. As expansive as I am to anyone who wants to receive it, why am I not allowing myself to be my own friend, my own expansion and my own compass? I think external validation.. someone to simply run ideas and dreams past is the lonely side. But kind of how they say you have to love yourself first before you can successfully love others, what kind of friend would I be if I can’t achieve friendship with self.

I am not lonely. I have her, in every corner and on every path we walk. Internal solitude and validation in strength in love was where I was missing the mark.

Krista has something so special within that she spreads on to others so well, a conduit of deeper thinking and self trust. Self guidance. A recentering to your very own authenticity. Being in her presence and in the energy of these other beautiful women really reminded me of my strengths and the gratitude I, we, should be returning to self.

I thank the universe every day for finding the @almost30podcast and if you and I have ever talked about podcast recommendations you’ve heard me praise them to the heavens.

Expansion isn’t something we need to seek from others, reminder to simply be receptive and it will come, whether from yourself or the wind ✨ it will come.

Expression is another part of the healing journey that can be even more potent than internal healing work. Being witnessed for who you truly are, your Self as we call it in IFS, can free you in so many beautiful ways.
