We closed Seussical! Let’s ignore the fact that I’m so late about posting and talk about the fact that I had so much fun with this show! We closed June 7th and I still think about it from time to time! This cast was so fun to work with! Thanks again to @sandiegomusicaltheatre for another amazing show experience! Thanks to everyone who came out and saw or just supported! Love every single one of you! Good bye Jungle Of Nool, you were a blast! 🐱🐵🤍🩵❤️

Also I ran out of people to tag on my post so @camblanks you get a special shoutout in my caption 🤩

Seussical! @sandiegomusicaltheatre

We closed Seussical yesterday, and it was a heck of a ride! I'd wanted to do this show for some time, so I'm grateful to @sandiegomusicaltheatre for the opportunity to play Horton the Elephant. This was the first time I've ever used my own singing voice on stage and not a "character" voice, and as strange as it felt at first, I'm glad I finally had the chance to do that (and thank you to @vanangelo for helping me find it)!

I could only tag 20 people, so I want to thank the creative team and crew that worked tirelessly to make this show happen every day. This was a really ambitious approach with tons of moving pieces, and a ton of precise coordination, and we made it work. Much of that thanks goes to @eli.hawleyyyy and @lambocrybaby moving panels, passing off props and cueing us every show. Thanks you to this amazing cast, many of whom have done plenty of shows together and welcomed me and the other newcomers with open arms. These actors are hilarious, creative, fearless and determined to make every moment of this show a moment to remember, and I'm delighted that I got to work alongside them for the past couple of months. Even though I spend a great deal of time on stage by myself, they made sure I didn't feel alone in that universe. Thank you to my "Secret Seuss," @tatafolla for the wonderful Horton gifts and asking me to build the Grinch puppet used in the show. Thank you to all of the talented swings and understudies, especially @hey.emmamei and @_mattateus_ for being absolute rockstars ready to cover so many of us at a moment's notice (and crushed it whenever they went on in a new role).

Also, thank you to everyone who made it out to see Seussical! Oddly enough, this was one of my first professional theatre gigs in San Diego, so it meant a lot having so many friends and family members coming out to see our funny little show.

Horton's mantra is "a person's a person, no matter how small," and I hope people hold onto that and remember to care for, listen to, and help each other in times of need. It's a message that is relevant now more than ever, so if this silly colorful musical can teach us that, then I'm glad we got the chance to do it, 100%
